[๗๙๔] ครั้งนั้นแล พระผู้มีพระภาค เมื่อภิกษุณีเหล่านั้นหลีกไปแล้ว
ไม่นาน ได้ตรัสกะภิกษุทั้งหลายว่า ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ในทุกวันอุโบสถ ๑๕ ค่ำ
นั้น ชนเป็นอันมากไม่มีความเคลือบแคลง หรือสงสัยว่า ดวงจันทร์พร่องหรือ
เต็มหนอ แต่แท้ที่จริง ดวงจันทร์ก็เต็มแล้วทีเดียว ฉันใด ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย
ภิกษุณีเหล่านั้นย่อมเป็นผู้ชื่นชมธรรมเทศนาของนันทกะ ทั้งๆ ที่มีความดำริ
บริบูรณ์แล้ว ฉันนั้นเหมือนกันแล ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย บรรดาภิกษุณีทั้ง ๕๐๐ รูป
นั้น รูปสุดท้ายยังเป็นถึงพระโสดาบัน มีความไม่ตกต่ำเป็นธรรมดา แน่นอนที่
จะตรัสรู้ในเบื้องหน้า ฯ
พระผู้มีพระภาคได้ตรัสพระภาษิตนี้แล้ว ภิกษุเหล่านั้นต่างชื่นชมยินดี

อถ โข ภควา อจิรปกฺกนฺตาสุ ตาสุ ภิกฺขุนีสุ ภิกฺขู
อามนฺเตสิ✎ ร่าง
Atha kho bhagavā acirapakkantīsu tāsu bhikkhunīsu bhikkhū āmantesi:
Soon after those nuns had left, the Buddha addressed the mendicants:
เสยฺยถาปิ ภิกฺขเว ตทหุโปสเถ ปณฺณรเส น โหติ
พหุโน ชนสฺส กงฺขา วา วิมติ วา✎ ร่าง
“seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, tadahuposathe pannarase na hoti bahuno janassa kaṅkhā vā vimati vā:
“Suppose, mendicants, it was the sabbath of the fifteenth day. You wouldn’t get lots of people
อูโน นุ โข จนฺโท ปุณฺโณ
นุ โข จนฺโทติ อถ โข ปุณฺโณ จนฺโท เตฺวว โหติ✎ ร่าง
‘ūno nu kho cando, puṇṇo nu kho cando’ti, atha kho puṇṇo cando tveva hoti;
wondering whether the moon is full or not, since it is obviously full.
เอวเมว
โข ภิกฺขเว ตา ภิกฺขุนิโย นนฺทกสฺส ธมฺมเทสนาย อตฺตมนา
เจว ปริปุณฺณสงฺกปฺปา จ ฯ✎ ร่าง
evameva kho, bhikkhave, tā bhikkhuniyo nandakassa dhammadesanāya attamanā ceva paripuṇṇasaṅkappā ca.
In the same way, those nuns were uplifted by Nandaka’s Dhamma teaching, and they got all they wished for.
ตาสํ ภิกฺขเว ปญฺจนฺนํ ภิกฺขุนีสตานํ
ยา ปจฺฉิมิกา ภิกฺขุนี สา ๑- โสตาปนฺนา อวินิปาตธมฺมา นิยตา
สมฺโพธิปรายนาติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Tāsaṁ, bhikkhave, pañcannaṁ bhikkhunisatānaṁ yā pacchimikā bhikkhunī sā sotāpannā avinipātadhammā niyatā sambodhiparāyanā”ti.
Even the last of these five hundred nuns is a stream-enterer, not liable to be reborn in the underworld, assured, destined for awakening.”
อิทมโวจ ภควา✎ ร่าง
Idamavoca bhagavā.
That is what the Buddha said.
อตฺตมนา เต ภิกฺขู ภควโต ภาสิตํ
อภินนฺทุนฺติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Attamanā te bhikkhū bhagavato bhāsitaṁ abhinandunti.
Satisfied, the mendicants approved what the Buddha said.
นนฺทโกวาทสุตฺตํ นิฏฺฐิตํ จตุตฺถํ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Nandakovādasuttaṁ niṭṭhitaṁ catutthaṁ.
