[๑๘๑] ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย โดยที่แท้ อริยสาวกผู้ได้สดับย่อมมีญาณ
หยั่งรู้ในเรื่องนี้โดยไม่ต้องเชื่อผู้อื่นว่า เมื่อสิ่งนี้ไม่มี สิ่งนี้จึงไม่มี เพราะสิ่งนี้ดับ
สิ่งนี้จึงดับ เมื่อวิญญาณไม่มี นามรูปจึงไม่มี เมื่อนามรูปไม่มี สฬายตนะจึง
ไม่มี ฯลฯ อุปาทานจึงไม่มี ... ภพจึงไม่มี ... ชาติจึงไม่มี เมื่อชาติไม่มี ชราและ
มรณะจึงไม่มี อริยสาวกนั้นย่อมรู้ประจักษ์อย่างนี้ว่า โลกนี้ย่อมดับอย่างนี้ ฯ
อถ โข ภิกฺขเว สุตวโต อริยสาวกสฺส อปรปฺปจฺจยา
ญาณเมเวตฺถ โหติ✎ ร่าง
Atha kho, bhikkhave, sutavato ariyasāvakassa aparappaccayā ñāṇamevettha hoti:
Rather, a learned noble disciple has only knowledge about this that is independent of others:

อิมสฺมึ อสติ อิทํ น โหติ อิมสฺส นิโรธา
อิทํ นิรุชฺฌติ✎ ร่าง
‘imasmiṁ asati idaṁ na hoti, imassa nirodhā idaṁ nirujjhati.
‘When this doesn’t exist, this doesn’t come to be; due to the cessation of this, this ceases.

Avijjāya asati saṅkhārā na honti;
When ignorance doesn’t exist choices don’t come to be.
—
saṅkhāresu asati viññāṇaṁ na hoti;
When choices don’t exist consciousness doesn’t come to be.
วิญฺญาเณ อสติ นามรูปํ น โหติ✎ ร่าง
viññāṇe asati nāmarūpaṁ na hoti;
When consciousness doesn’t exist name and form don’t come to be.

jātiyā asati jarāmaraṇaṁ na hotī’ti.
When rebirth doesn’t exist old age and death don’t come to be.’

ปชานาติ✎ ร่าง
So evaṁ pajānāti:
They understand:
เอวมยํ โลโก นิรุชฺฌตีติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
‘evamayaṁ loko nirujjhatī’ti.
‘That is how this world ceases.’
