[๑๑๒๔] ครั้งนั้น พระผู้มีพระภาคเสด็จเข้าไปยังปาวาลเจดีย์ ประทับนั่งบนอาสนะที่
ท่านพระอานนท์ปูถวาย ส่วนท่านพระอานนท์ถวายบังคมพระผู้มีพระภาคแล้ว จึงนั่ง ณ ที่ควรส่วน
ข้างหนึ่ง พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสกะท่านพระอานนท์ว่า ดูกรอานนท์ เมืองเวสาลีเป็นที่น่ารื่นรมย์
อุเทนเจดีย์ก็เป็นที่น่ารื่นรมย์ โคตมกเจดีย์ก็เป็นที่น่ารื่นรมย์ สัตตัมพเจดีย์ก็เป็นที่น่ารื่นรมย์
พหุปุตตกเจดีย์ก็เป็นที่น่ารื่นรมย์ สารันททเจดีย์ก็เป็นที่น่ารื่นรมย์ อิทธิบาท ๔ อันผู้ใดผู้หนึ่ง
เจริญแล้ว กระทำให้มากแล้ว กระทำให้เป็นดุจยาน กระทำให้เป็นที่ตั้ง ให้คล่องแคล่วแล้ว
สั่งสมแล้ว ปรารภดีแล้ว ผู้นั้น เมื่อจำนงอยู่พึงดำรงอยู่ได้กัลป์หนึ่ง หรือเกินกว่ากัลป์หนึ่ง
ดูกรอานนท์ อิทธิบาท ๔ อันตถาคตเจริญแล้ว กระทำให้มากแล้ว กระทำให้เป็นดุจยาน
กระทำให้เป็นที่ตั้ง ให้คล่องแคล่วแล้ว สั่งสมแล้ว ปรารภดีแล้ว ตถาคตนั้น เมื่อจำนงอยู่
พึงดำรงอยู่ได้กัลป์หนึ่งหรือเกินกว่ากัลป์หนึ่ง.

อุปสงฺกมิตฺวา ปญฺญตฺเต อาสเน นิสีทิ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Atha kho bhagavā yena cāpālaṁ cetiyaṁ tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā paññatte āsane nisīdi.
Then the Buddha went up to the Cāpāla Shrine, and sat down on the seat spread out.

อายสฺมาปิ โข อานนฺโท
ภควนฺตํ อภิวาเทตฺวา เอกมนฺตํ นิสีทิ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Āyasmāpi kho ānando bhagavantaṁ abhivādetvā ekamantaṁ nisīdi.
Ānanda bowed to the Buddha and sat down to one side.
เอกมนฺตํ นิสินฺนํ โข
อายสฺมนฺตํ อานนฺทํ ภควา เอตทโวจ✎ ร่าง
Ekamantaṁ nisinnaṁ kho āyasmantaṁ ānandaṁ bhagavā etadavoca:
The Buddha said to him:
รมณียา อานนฺท เวสาลี
รมณียํ อุเทนเจติยํ รมณียํ โคตมกเจติยํ รมณียํ สตฺตมฺพเจติยํ
รมณียํ พหุปุตฺตกเจติยํ รมณียํ สารนฺททเจติยํ รมณียํ
ปาวาลเจติยํ ฯ✎ ร่าง
“Ramaṇīyā, ānanda, vesālī, ramaṇīyaṁ udenaṁ cetiyaṁ, ramaṇīyaṁ gotamakaṁ cetiyaṁ, ramaṇīyaṁ sattambaṁ cetiyaṁ, ramaṇīyaṁ bahuputtaṁ cetiyaṁ, ramaṇīyaṁ sārandadaṁ cetiyaṁ, ramaṇīyaṁ cāpālaṁ cetiyaṁ.
“Ānanda, Vesālī is lovely. And the Udena, Gotamaka, Seven Maidens, Many Sons, Sārandada, and Cāpāla Shrines are all lovely.

ยสฺส กสฺสจิ อานนฺท จตฺตาโร อิทฺธิปาทา ภาวิตา
พหุลีกตา ยานีกตา วตฺถุกตา อนุฏฺฐิตา ปริจิตา สุสมารทฺธา โส
อากงฺขมาโน กปฺปํ วา ติฏฺเฐยฺย กปฺปาวเสสํ วา ฯ✎ ร่าง
Yassa kassaci, ānanda, cattāro iddhipādā bhāvitā bahulīkatā yānīkatā vatthukatā anuṭṭhitā paricitā susamāraddhā, so ākaṅkhamāno kappaṁ vā tiṭṭheyya kappāvasesaṁ vā.
Whoever has developed and cultivated the four bases of psychic power—made them a vehicle and a basis, kept them up, consolidated them, and properly implemented them—may, if they wish, live for the proper lifespan or what’s left of it.
ตถาคตสฺส
โข อานนฺท จตฺตาโร อิทฺธิปาทา ภาวิตา พหุลีกตา ยานีกตา
วตฺถุกตา อนุฏฺฐิตา ปริจิตา สุสมารทฺธา ฯ อากงฺขมาโน อานนฺท
ตถาคโต กปฺปํ วา ติฏฺเฐยฺย กปฺปาวเสสํ วาติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Tathāgatassa kho, ānanda, cattāro iddhipādā bhāvitā bahulīkatā yānīkatā vatthukatā anuṭṭhitā paricitā susamāraddhā. Ākaṅkhamāno, ānanda, tathāgato kappaṁ vā tiṭṭheyya kappāvasesaṁ vā”ti.
The Realized One has developed and cultivated the four bases of psychic power, made them a vehicle and a basis, kept them up, consolidated them, and properly implemented them. If he wished, the Realized One could live for the proper lifespan or what’s left of it.”
