[๑๒๒๑] สาวัตถีนิทาน. ครั้งนั้น ท่านพระอานนท์เข้าไปเฝ้าพระผู้มีพระภาคถึงที่ ประทับ ถวายบังคมพระผู้มีพระภาคแล้ว นั่ง ณ ที่ควรส่วนข้างหนึ่ง ครั้นแล้วได้ทูลถามพระผู้ มีพระภาคว่า ข้าแต่พระองค์ผู้เจริญ อิทธิเป็นไฉน อิทธิบาทเป็นไฉน อิทธิบาทภาวนาเป็นไฉน ปฏิปทาที่จะให้ถึงอิทธิบาทภาวนาเป็นไฉน?

Atha kho āyasmā ānando yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṁ abhivādetvā ekamantaṁ nisīdi. Ekamantaṁ nisinno kho āyasmā ānando bhagavantaṁ etadavoca:

“Katamā nu kho, bhante, iddhi, katamo iddhipādo, katamā iddhipādabhāvanā, katamā iddhipādabhāvanāgāminī paṭipadā”ti?
