[๑๕๕๒] ดูกรคฤหบดี ปุถุชนผู้ไม่ได้สดับ ประกอบด้วยความไม่เลื่อมใสในพระสงฆ์ เห็นปานใด เมื่อแตกกายตายไป ย่อมเข้าถึงอบาย ทุคติ วินิบาต นรก ความไม่เลื่อมใสใน พระสงฆ์เห็นปานนั้น ย่อมไม่มีแก่ท่าน ส่วนท่านมีความเลื่อมใสในพระสงฆ์ว่า พระสงฆ์สาวก ของพระผู้มีพระภาค เป็นผู้ปฏิบัติดีแล้ว ฯลฯ เป็นนาบุญของโลก ไม่มีนาบุญอื่นยิ่งกว่า ก็เมื่อ ท่านเห็นความเลื่อมใสอันไม่หวั่นไหวในพระสงฆ์นั้นอยู่ในตน เวทนาจะพึงสงบระงับโดยพลัน.

ยถารูเปน โข คหปติ สงฺเฆ อเวจฺจปฺปสาเทน สมนฺนาคโต อสฺสุตวา ปุถุชฺชโน กายสฺส เภทา ปรํ มรณา อปายํ ทุคฺคตึ วินิปาตํ นิรยํ อุปปชฺชติ ตถารูโป เต สงฺเฆ อปฺปสาโท นตฺถิ ฯ✎ ร่าง

Yathārūpena kho, gahapati, saṅghe appasādena samannāgato assutavā puthujjano kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā apāyaṁ duggatiṁ vinipātaṁ nirayaṁ upapajjati, tathārūpo te saṅghe appasādo natthi.

You don’t have the distrust in the Saṅgha that causes an unlearned ordinary person to be reborn—when their body breaks up, after death—in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell.

อตฺถิ จ โข เต คหปติ สงฺเฆ อเวจฺจปฺปสาโท✎ ร่าง

Atthi ca kho te, gahapati, saṅghe aveccappasādo—

And you have experiential confidence in the Saṅgha:

สุปฏิปนฺโน ภควโต สาวกสงฺโฆ ฯเปฯ อนุตฺตรํ ปุญฺญกฺเขตฺตํ โลกสฺสาติ ฯ✎ ร่าง

suppaṭipanno bhagavato sāvakasaṅgho …pe… anuttaraṁ puññakkhettaṁ lokassāti.

‘The Saṅgha of the Buddha’s disciples is practicing the way that’s good, direct, systematic, and proper. It consists of the four pairs, the eight individual persons. This Saṅgha of the Buddha’s disciples is worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, and worthy of veneration with cupped palms. It is the supreme field of merit for the world.’

ตญฺจ ปน เต สงฺเฆ อเวจฺจปฺปสาทํ อตฺตนิ สมนุปสฺสโต ฐานโส เวทนา ปฏิปฺปสฺสมฺเภยฺยุํ ฯ✎ ร่าง

Tañca pana te saṅghe aveccappasādaṁ attani samanupassato ṭhānaso vedanā paṭippassambheyya.

Seeing in yourself that experiential confidence in the Saṅgha, that pain may die down on the spot.
