[๑๖๘๐] ก็ทุกขสมุทยอริยสัจเป็นไฉน? ตัณหาอันทำให้มีภพใหม่ ประกอบด้วยความ กำหนัดด้วยอำนาจความพอใจ เพลิดเพลินยิ่งนักในอารมณ์นั้นๆ ได้แก่กามตัณหา ภวตัณหา วิภวตัณหา นี้เรียกว่า ทุกขสมุทยอริยสัจ.

Katamañca, bhikkhave, dukkhasamudayaṁ ariyasaccaṁ?

And what is the noble truth of the origin of suffering?

ยายํ ตณฺหา โปโนพฺภวิกา นนฺทิราคสหคตา ตตฺรตตฺราภินนฺทินี ฯ เสยฺยถีทํ ฯ✎ ร่าง

Yāyaṁ taṇhā ponobbhavikā nandirāgasahagatā tatratatrābhinandinī, seyyathidaṁ—

It’s the craving that leads to future lives, mixed up with relishing and greed, taking pleasure there wherever it alights. That is,

กามตณฺหา ภวตณฺหา วิภวตณฺหา ฯ✎ ร่าง

kāmataṇhā, bhavataṇhā, vibhavataṇhā.

craving for sensual pleasures, craving for existence, and craving for nonexistence.

อิทํ วุจฺจติ ภิกฺขเว ทุกฺขสมุทโย อริยสจฺจํ ฯ✎ ร่าง

Idaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, dukkhasamudayaṁ ariyasaccaṁ.

This is called the noble truth of the origin of suffering.
