When the greetings and polite conversation were over, he sat down to one side and said to the Buddha:
โก นุ โข โภ โคตม เหตุ โก
ปจฺจโย เยนมิเธกจฺเจ สตฺตา กายสฺส เภทา ปรมฺมรณา อปายํ

“ko nu kho, bho gotama, hetu ko paccayo yena m’idhekacce sattā kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā apāyaṁ duggatiṁ vinipātaṁ nirayaṁ upapajjantī”ti?
“What is the cause, worthy Gotama, what is the reason why some sentient beings, when their body breaks up, after death, are reborn in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell?”
อธมฺมจริยวิสมจริยาเหตุ โข
พฺราหฺมณ เอวมิเธกจฺเจ สตฺตา กายสฺส เภทา ปรมฺมรณา อปายํ

“Adhammacariyāvisamacariyāhetu kho, brāhmaṇa, evam’idhekacce sattā kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā apāyaṁ duggatiṁ vinipātaṁ nirayaṁ upapajjantī”ti.
“Unprincipled and immoral conduct is the reason why some sentient beings, when their body breaks up, after death, are reborn in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell.”

Seyyathāpi, bho gotama, nikkujjitaṁ vā ukkujjeyya, paṭicchannaṁ vā vivareyya, mūḷhassa vā maggaṁ ācikkheyya, andhakāre vā telapajjotaṁ dhāreyya: ‘cakkhumanto rūpāni dakkhantī’ti; evamevaṁ bhotā gotamena anekapariyāyena dhammo pakāsito.
As if he was righting the overturned, or revealing the hidden, or pointing out the path to the lost, or lighting a lamp in the dark so people with clear eyes can see what’s there, worthy Gotama has made the teaching clear in many ways.

ภวนฺตํ โคตมํ สรณํ คจฺฉามิ ธมฺมญฺจ
ภิกฺขุสงฺฆญฺจ🤖 AI จับคู่
Esāhaṁ bhavantaṁ gotamaṁ saraṇaṁ gacchāmi dhammañca bhikkhusaṅghañca.
I go for refuge to the worthy Gotama, to the teaching, and to the mendicant Saṅgha.
อุปาสกํ มํ ภวํ โคตโม ธาเรตุ อชฺชตคฺเค ปาณุเปตํ
สรณํ คตนฺติ ฯ🤖 AI จับคู่
Upāsakaṁ maṁ bhavaṁ gotamo dhāretu ajjatagge pāṇupetaṁ saraṇaṁ gatan”ti.
From this day forth, may the worthy Gotama remember me as a lay follower who has gone for refuge for life.”
