Bahukārā, bhikkhave, mātāpitaro puttānaṁ, āpādakā posakā, imassa lokassa dassetāroti.
Parents are very helpful to their children, they raise them, nurture them, and show them the world.

Brahmāti mātāpitaro,
Parents are said to be ‘divinity’
ปุพฺพาจริยาติ วุจฺจเร🤖 AI จับคู่
pubbācariyāti vuccare;
and ‘first tutors’, it’s said.
อาหุเนยฺยา จ ปุตฺตานํ🤖 AI จับคู่
Āhuneyyā ca puttānaṁ,
They’re worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods from their children,
ปชาย อนุกมฺปกา ฯ🤖 AI จับคู่
pajāya anukampakā.
for they love their offspring.
ตสฺมา หิ เน นมสฺเสยฺย🤖 AI จับคู่
Tasmā hi ne namasseyya,
Therefore an astute person
สกฺกเรยฺยาถ ปณฺฑิโต🤖 AI จับคู่
sakkareyya ca paṇḍito;
would revere them and honor them
อนฺเนน อถ ปาเนน🤖 AI จับคู่
Annena atha pānena,
with food and drink,
วตฺเถน สยเนน จ🤖 AI จับคู่
vatthena sayanena ca;
clothes and bedding,
อุจฺฉาทเนน นฺหาปเนน🤖 AI จับคู่
Ucchādanena nhāpanena,
anointing and bathing,
ปาทานํ โธวเนน จ🤖 AI จับคู่
pādānaṁ dhovanena ca.
and by washing their feet.
ตาย🤖 AI จับคู่
Tāya naṁ pāricariyāya,
Because they look after
—
mātāpitūsu paṇḍitā;
their parents like this,
—
Idheva naṁ pasaṁsanti,
in this life they’re praised by the astute,
—
pecca sagge pamodatī”ti.
and they depart to rejoice in heaven.”
