Atha kho vacchagotto paribbājako yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavatā saddhiṁ sammodi.
Then the wanderer Vacchagotta went up to the Buddha and exchanged greetings with him.
เอกมนฺตํ นิสินฺโน โข วจฺฉโคตฺโต ปริพฺพาชโก
ภควนฺตํ เอตทโวจ✎ ร่าง
Sammodanīyaṁ kathaṁ sāraṇīyaṁ vītisāretvā ekamantaṁ nisīdi. Ekamantaṁ nisinno kho vacchagotto paribbājako bhagavantaṁ etadavoca:
When the greetings and polite conversation were over, he sat down to one side and said to the Buddha:
กินฺนุ โข โภ โคตม สสฺสโต โลโก อิทเมว
สจฺจํ โมฆมญฺญนฺติ✎ ร่าง
“Kiṁ nu kho, bho gotama, ‘sassato loko, idameva saccaṁ moghamaññan’ti—
“Worthy Gotama, is this your view: ‘The cosmos is eternal. This is the only truth, anything else is futile’?”
เอวํทิฏฺฐี ๑- ภวํ โคตโมติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
evaṁdiṭṭhi bhavaṁ gotamo”ti?
น โข อหํ วจฺฉ เอวํทิฏฺฐี✎ ร่าง
“Na kho ahaṁ, vaccha, evaṁdiṭṭhi:
“That’s not my view, Vaccha.”
สสฺสโต โลโก อิทเมว สจฺจํ
โมฆมญฺญนฺติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
‘sassato loko, idameva saccaṁ moghamaññan’”ti.
กึ ๒- ปน โภ โคตม อสสฺสโต โลโก อิทเมว สจฺจํ
โมฆมญฺญนฺติ✎ ร่าง
“Kiṁ pana, bho gotama, ‘asassato loko, idameva saccaṁ moghamaññan’ti—
“Then is this your view: ‘The cosmos is not eternal. This is the only truth, anything else is futile’?”
เอวํทิฏฺฐี ภวํ โคตโมติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
evaṁdiṭṭhi bhavaṁ gotamo”ti?
น โข อหํ วจฺฉ เอวํทิฏฺฐี✎ ร่าง
“Na kho ahaṁ, vaccha, evaṁdiṭṭhi:
“That’s not my view, Vaccha.”
อสสฺสโต โลโก อิทเมว สจฺจํ โมฆมญฺญนฺติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
‘asassato loko, idameva saccaṁ moghamaññan’”ti.
กินฺนุ โข โภ โคตม
อนฺตวา โลโก อิทเมว สจฺจํ โมฆมญฺญนฺติ✎ ร่าง
“Kiṁ nu kho, bho gotama, ‘antavā loko, idameva saccaṁ moghamaññan’ti—
“Then is this your view: ‘The cosmos is finite. This is the only truth, anything else is futile’?”
เอวํทิฏฺฐี ภวํ โคตโมติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
evaṁdiṭṭhi bhavaṁ gotamo”ti?
น โข อหํ วจฺฉ เอวํทิฏฺฐี✎ ร่าง
“Na kho ahaṁ, vaccha, evaṁdiṭṭhi:
“That’s not my view, Vaccha.”
อนฺตวา โลโก
อิทเมว สจฺจํ โมฆมญฺญนฺติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
‘antavā loko, idameva saccaṁ moghamaññan’”ti.
กึ ๓- ปน โภ โคตม อนนฺตวา
โลโก อิทเมว สจฺจํ โมฆมญฺญนฺติ✎ ร่าง
“Kiṁ pana, bho gotama, ‘anantavā loko, idameva saccaṁ moghamaññan’ti—
“Then is this your view: ‘The cosmos is infinite. This is the only truth, anything else is futile’?”
เอวํทิฏฺฐี ภวํ โคตโมติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
evaṁdiṭṭhi bhavaṁ gotamo”ti?
น โข อหํ วจฺฉ เอวํทิฏฺฐี✎ ร่าง
“Na kho ahaṁ, vaccha, evaṁdiṭṭhi:

อนนฺตวา โลโก อิทเมว สจฺจํ

“Then is this your view: ‘A realized one no longer exists after death. This is the only truth, anything else is futile’?”
