เตน โข ปน สมเยน ภควา ตทหุโปสเถ ปณฺณรเส
ปวารณาย ปุณฺณาย ปุณฺณมาย รตฺติยา ภิกฺขุสงฺฆปริวุโต
อพฺโภกาเส นิสินฺโน โหติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā tadahuposathe pannarase pavāraṇāya puṇṇāya puṇṇamāya rattiyā bhikkhusaṅghaparivuto abbhokāse nisinno hoti.
Now, at that time it was the sabbath—the full moon on the fifteenth day—and the Buddha was sitting surrounded by a Saṅgha of monks for the invitation to admonish.

อถ โข ภควา ตุณฺหีภูตํ ๒- ภิกฺขุสงฺฆํ

อนุวิโลเกตฺวา ภิกฺขู อามนฺเตสิ✎ ร่าง
Atha kho bhagavā tuṇhībhūtaṁ tuṇhībhūtaṁ bhikkhusaṅghaṁ anuviloketvā bhikkhū āmantesi:
Then the Buddha looked around the Saṅgha of mendicants, who were so very silent. He addressed them:
อารทฺโธสฺมิ ภิกฺขเว อิมาย
ปฏิปทาย✎ ร่าง
“āraddhosmi, bhikkhave, imāya paṭipadāya;
“I am satisfied, mendicants, with this practice.
อารทฺธจิตฺโตสฺมิ ภิกฺขเว อิมาย ปฏิปทาย✎ ร่าง
āraddhacittosmi, bhikkhave, imāya paṭipadāya.
My heart is satisfied with this practice.
ตสฺมาติห
ภิกฺขเว ภิยฺโยโส มตฺตาย วิริยํ อารภถ อปฺปตฺตสฺส ปตฺติยา
อนธิคตสฺส อธิคมาย อสจฺฉิกตสฺส สจฺฉิกิริยาย✎ ร่าง
Tasmātiha, bhikkhave, bhiyyoso mattāya vīriyaṁ ārabhatha appattassa pattiyā, anadhigatassa adhigamāya, asacchikatassa sacchikiriyāya.
So you should rouse up even more energy for attaining the unattained, achieving the unachieved, and realizing the unrealized.
อิเธวาหํ สาวตฺถิยํ
โกมุทึ จาตุมาสินึ อาคเมสฺสามีติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Idhevāhaṁ sāvatthiyaṁ komudiṁ cātumāsiniṁ āgamessāmī”ti.
I will wait here in Sāvatthī for the Komudī full moon of the fourth month.”
อสฺโสสุํ โข ชานปทา ภิกฺขู✎ ร่าง
Assosuṁ kho jānapadā bhikkhū:
Mendicants from around the country heard about this,
ภควา กิร ตตฺเถว สาวตฺถิยํ โกมุทึ จาตุมาสินึ อาคเมสฺสตีติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
“bhagavā kira tattheva sāvatthiyaṁ komudiṁ cātumāsiniṁ āgamessatī”ti.
เต ชานปทา ภิกฺขู สาวตฺถิยํ โอสรนฺติ ภควนฺตํ ทสฺสนาย ฯ✎ ร่าง
Te jānapadā bhikkhū sāvatthiṁ osaranti bhagavantaṁ dassanāya.
and came down to Sāvatthī to see the Buddha.
เต จ✎ ร่าง
Te ca kho therā bhikkhū bhiyyoso mattāya nave bhikkhū ovadanti anusāsanti.
And those senior mendicants instructed the junior mendicants even more.

Appekacce therā bhikkhū dasapi bhikkhū ovadanti anusāsanti, appekacce therā bhikkhū vīsampi bhikkhū ovadanti anusāsanti, appekacce therā bhikkhū tiṁsampi bhikkhū ovadanti anusāsanti, appekacce therā bhikkhū cattārīsampi bhikkhū ovadanti anusāsanti.
Some senior mendicants instructed ten mendicants, while some instructed twenty, thirty, or forty.

Te ca navā bhikkhū therehi bhikkhūhi ovadiyamānā anusāsiyamānā uḷāraṁ pubbenāparaṁ visesaṁ jānanti.
Being instructed by the senior mendicants, the junior mendicants realized a higher distinction than they had before.
