[๔๒๗] ดูกรคฤหบดี เทวดาเหล่านั้นย่อมไม่มีความดำริอย่างนี้เลยว่า
สิ่งนี้ของพวกเราเที่ยง หรือยั่งยืน หรือแน่นอน แต่ว่า เทวดาเหล่านั้นย่อม
อภิรมย์เฉพาะแดนที่ตนอยู่อาศัยนั้นๆ ดูกรคฤหบดี เปรียบเหมือนแมลงที่เขา
นำไปด้วยหาบหรือตะกร้า ย่อมไม่มีความดำริอย่างนี้ว่า หาบหรือตะกร้านี้ของ
พวกเราเที่ยง หรือยั่งยืน หรือแน่นอน แต่ว่าแมลงเหล่านั้นย่อมอภิรมย์เฉพาะ
แหล่งที่ตนอยู่อาศัยนั้นๆ ฉันใด ดูกรคฤหบดี ฉันนั้นเหมือนกันแล เทวดา
เหล่านั้นย่อมไม่มีความดำริอย่างนี้เลยว่า สิ่งนี้ของพวกเราเที่ยง หรือยั่งยืน หรือ
แน่นอน แต่ว่าเทวดาเหล่านั้นย่อมอภิรมย์เฉพาะแดนที่ตนอยู่อาศัยนั้นๆ ฯ
น โข คหปติ ตาสํ เทวตานํ เอวํ โหติ✎ ร่าง
Na kho, gahapati, tāsaṁ devatānaṁ evaṁ hoti:
It’s not that those deities think,

อิทมฺหากํ
นิจฺจนฺติ วา ธุวนฺติ วา สสฺสตนฺติ วา อปิจ ยตฺถ ยตฺเถว ตา
เทวตา อภินิวิสนฺติ ตตฺถ ตตฺเถว ตา เทวตา อภิรมนฺติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
‘idaṁ amhākaṁ niccanti vā dhuvanti vā sassatanti vā’, api ca yattha yattheva tā devatā abhinivisanti tattha tattheva tā devatā abhiramanti.
‘What we have is permanent, lasting, and eternal.’ Rather, wherever those deities cling, that’s where they take pleasure.
เสยฺยถาปิ คหปติ มกฺขิกานํ กาเชน วา ปิฏเกน วา หริยมานานํ
น เอวํ โหติ✎ ร่าง
Seyyathāpi, gahapati, makkhikānaṁ kājena vā piṭakena vā harīyamānānaṁ na evaṁ hoti:
It’s like when flies are being carried along on a carrying-pole or basket. It’s not that they think,
อิทมฺหากํ นิจฺจนฺติ วา ธุวนฺติ วา สสฺสตนฺติ
วา อปิจ ยตฺถ ยตฺเถว ตา มกฺขิกา อภินิวิสนฺติ ตตฺถ ตตฺเถว
ตา มกฺขิกา อภิรมนฺติ✎ ร่าง
‘idaṁ amhākaṁ niccanti vā dhuvanti vā sassatanti vā’, api ca yattha yattheva tā makkhikā abhinivisanti tattha tattheva tā makkhikā abhiramanti;
‘What we have is permanent, lasting, and eternal.’ Rather, wherever those flies cling, that’s where they take pleasure.
เอวเมว โข คหปติ ตาสํ เทวตานํ
