Bhagavā etadavoca:
The Buddha said this:
สนฺติ โข ปุณฺณ จกฺขุวิญฺเญยฺยา
รูปา อิฏฺฐา กนฺตา มนาปา ปิยรูปา กามูปสญฺหิตา รชนียา✎ ร่าง
“Santi kho, puṇṇa, cakkhuviññeyyā rūpā iṭṭhā kantā manāpā piyarūpā kāmūpasaṁhitā rajanīyā.
“Puṇṇa, there are sights known by the eye, which are likable, desirable, agreeable, pleasant, sensual, and arousing.
ตญฺเจ ภิกฺขุ อภินนฺทติ อภิวทติ อชฺโฌสาย ติฏฺฐติ✎ ร่าง
Tañce bhikkhu abhinandati abhivadati ajjhosāya tiṭṭhati.
If a mendicant approves, welcomes, and keeps clinging to them,
ตสฺส ตํ
อภินนฺทโต อภิวทโต อชฺโฌสาย ติฏฺฐโต อุปฺปชฺชติ นนฺทิ✎ ร่าง
Tassa taṁ abhinandato abhivadato ajjhosāya tiṭṭhato uppajjati nandī.
this gives rise to relishing.
นนฺทิสมุทยา ทุกฺขสมุทโย ปุณฺณาติ วทามิ ฯ✎ ร่าง
‘Nandīsamudayā dukkhasamudayo, puṇṇā’ti vadāmi.
Relishing is the origin of suffering, I say.

อภินนฺทติ อภิวทติ อชฺโฌสาย ติฏฺฐติ✎ ร่าง
Tañce bhikkhu abhinandati abhivadati ajjhosāya tiṭṭhati.
