“Daliddo puriso rāja,
“O king, some people are poor,
อสฺสทฺโธ โหติ มจฺฉรี✎ ร่าง
assaddho hoti maccharī;
faithless and stingy.
กทริโย ปาปสงฺกปฺโป✎ ร่าง
Kadariyo pāpasaṅkappo,
Miserly, with bad intentions,
มิจฺฉาทิฏฺฐิ อนาทโร✎ ร่าง
micchādiṭṭhi anādaro.
they lack regard, they have wrong view.
สมเณ พฺราหฺมเณ วาปิ✎ ร่าง
Samaṇe brāhmaṇe vāpi,
They abuse and insult
อญฺเญ วาปิ วณิพฺพเก✎ ร่าง
aññe vāpi vanibbake;
ascetics and brahmins
อกฺโกสติ ปริภาสติ✎ ร่าง
Akkosati paribhāsati,
and other supplicants.
นตฺถิโก โหติ โรสโก✎ ร่าง
natthiko hoti rosako.
They’re nihilists and bullies,
ททมานํ นิวาเรติ✎ ร่าง
Dadamānaṁ nivāreti,
who prevent others from giving
ยาจมานาน โภชนํ✎ ร่าง
yācamānāna bhojanaṁ;
food to beggars.
ตาทิโส ปุริโส ราช✎ ร่าง
Tādiso puriso rāja,
O king, ruler of the people:
มิยฺยมาโน ชนาธิป✎ ร่าง
mīyamāno janādhipa;
when such people die
อุเปติ นิรยํ โฆรํ✎ ร่าง
Upeti nirayaṁ ghoraṁ,
they fall into the terrible hell—
ตโม ตมปรายโน✎ ร่าง
tamotamaparāyano.
from darkness they’re bound for darkness.

They rise for and bow to

Dadamānaṁ na vāreti,
