ตตฺร สุทํ ภิกฺขเว พฺรหฺมา จ พฺรหฺมปริสา จ
พฺรหฺมปาริสชฺชา จ อุชฺฌายนฺติ ขียนฺติ วิปาเจนฺติ✎ ร่าง
Tatra sudaṁ, bhikkhave, brahmā ca brahmaparisā ca brahmapārisajjā ca ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti:
But the Divinity, his assembly, and his retinue complained, grumbled, and objected,
อจฺฉริยํ วต โภ
อพฺภูตํ วต โภ กถญฺหิ นาม สตฺถริ สมฺมุขีภูเต สาวโก ธมฺมํ

เทเสสฺสตีติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
‘acchariyaṁ vata, bho, abbhutaṁ vata bho, kathañhi nāma satthari sammukhībhūte sāvako dhammaṁ desessatī’ti.
‘Oh lord, how incredible, how amazing! How on earth can a disciple teach Dhamma in the presence of the Teacher?’
อถ โข ภิกฺขเว สิขี ภควา อรหํ สมฺมาสมฺพุทฺโธ
อภิภุํ ภิกฺขุํ อามนฺเตสิ✎ ร่าง
Atha kho, bhikkhave, sikhī bhagavā arahaṁ sammāsambuddho abhibhuṁ bhikkhuṁ āmantesi:
Then the Buddha Sikhī addressed the mendicant Abhibhū,

อุชฺฌายนฺติ โข เต พฺราหฺมณ พฺรหฺมา
จ พฺรหฺมปริสา จ พฺรหฺมปาริสชฺชา จ✎ ร่าง
‘ujjhāyanti kho te, brāhmaṇa, brahmā ca brahmaparisā ca brahmapārisajjā ca—
‘Brahmin, the Divinity, his assembly, and his retinue are complaining
อจฺฉริยํ วต โภ อพฺภูตํ
วต โภ กถญฺหิ นาม สตฺถริ สมฺมุขีภูเต สาวโก ธมฺมํ เทเสสฺสตีติ✎ ร่าง
acchariyaṁ vata bho, abbhutaṁ vata bho, kathañhi nāma satthari sammukhībhūte sāvako dhammaṁ desessatīti.
that a disciple teaches Dhamma in the presence of the Teacher.
เตนหิ ตฺวํ พฺราหฺมณ ภิยฺโยโส มตฺตาย พฺรหฺมานญฺจ
พฺรหฺมปริสญฺจ พฺรหฺมปาริสชฺเช จ สํเวเชหีติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Tena hi tvaṁ, brāhmaṇa, bhiyyoso mattāya brahmānañca brahmaparisañca brahmapārisajje ca saṁvejehī’ti.
Well then, brahmin, stir them up even more!’
เอวํ ภนฺเตติ โข
ภิกฺขเว อภิภู ภิกฺขุ สิขิสฺส ภควโต อรหโต สมฺมาสมฺพุทฺธสฺส
ปฏิสฺสุตฺวา ทิสฺสมาเนนปิ กาเยน ธมฺมํ เทเสสิ อทิสฺสมาเนนปิ
กาเยน ธมฺมํ เทเสสิ ทิสฺสมาเนนปิ เหฏฺฐิเมน อุปฑฺฒกาเยน
อทิสฺสมาเนนปิ ๑- อุปริเมน อุปฑฺฒกาเยน ธมฺมํ เทเสสิ
ทิสฺสมาเนนปิ อุปริเมน อุปฑฺฒกาเยน อทิสฺสมาเนนปิ เหฏฺฐิเมน
อุปฑฺฒกาเยน ธมฺมํ เทเสสิ ฯ✎ ร่าง
‘Evaṁ, bhante’ti kho, bhikkhave, abhibhū bhikkhu sikhissa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa paṭissutvā dissamānenapi kāyena dhammaṁ desesi, adissamānenapi kāyena dhammaṁ desesi, dissamānenapi heṭṭhimena upaḍḍhakāyena adissamānena uparimena upaḍḍhakāyena dhammaṁ desesi, dissamānenapi uparimena upaḍḍhakāyena adissamānena heṭṭhimena upaḍḍhakāyena dhammaṁ desesi.
‘Yes, sir,’ replied Abhibhū. Then he taught Dhamma with his body visible; with his body invisible; with the lower half visible and the upper half invisible; and with the upper half visible and the lower half invisible.
