[๖๒๒] เมื่อพระผู้มีพระภาคปรินิพพานแล้ว ท้าวสหัมบดีพรหมได้กล่าว คาถานี้พร้อมกับกาลเป็นที่ปรินิพพานว่า สัตว์ทุกหมู่เหล่า จักทอดทิ้งร่างกายไว้ในโลก พระตถาคต ผู้ศาสดา ผู้หาบุคคลเปรียบมิได้ในโลก ถึงแล้วซึ่งกำลัง พระญาณเป็นพระสัมพุทธเช่นนี้ ยังปรินิพพานแล้ว ฯ

Parinibbute bhagavati saha parinibbānā brahmā sahampati imaṁ gāthaṁ abhāsi:

When the Buddha was fully quenched, along with the full extinguishment, the divinity Sahampati spoke this verse:

สพฺเพว นิกฺขิปิสฺสนฺติ✎ ร่าง

“Sabbeva nikkhipissanti,

“All creatures in this world

ภูตา โลเก สมุสฺสยํ✎ ร่าง

bhūtā loke samussayaṁ;

must lay down this bag of bones.

ยตฺถ เอตาทิโส สตฺถา✎ ร่าง

Yattha etādiso satthā,

For even a Teacher such as this,

โลเก อปฺปฏิปุคฺคโล✎ ร่าง

loke appaṭipuggalo;

unrivaled in the world,

ตถาคโต พลปฺปตฺโต✎ ร่าง

Tathāgato balappatto,

the Realized One, attained to power,

สมฺพุทฺโธ ปรินิพฺพุโตติ ฯ✎ ร่าง

sambuddho parinibbuto”ti.
