เอวํ ภนฺเตติ โข อายสฺมา วงฺคีโส ภควโต ปฏิสฺสุตฺวา@เชิงอรรถ: ๑ ม. ยุ. สตฺถุทสฺสนกามยตา ฯ
ภิยฺโยโส มตฺตาย ภควนฺตํ ปุพฺเพ อปริวิตกฺกิตาหิ คาถาหิ อภิตฺถวิ✎ ร่าง
“Evaṁ, bhante”ti kho āyasmā vaṅgīso bhagavato paṭissutvā bhiyyoso mattāya bhagavantaṁ pubbe aparivitakkitāhi gāthāhi abhitthavi:
“Yes, sir,” replied Vaṅgīsa. Then he extolled the Buddha with some more spontaneously inspired verses, not previously composed:
อุมฺมคฺคสตํ ๑- มารสฺส อภิภุยฺย✎ ร่าง
“Ummaggapathaṁ mārassa abhibhuyya,
“Having overcome Māra’s wrong path,
จรสิ ปภิชฺช ขีลานิ✎ ร่าง
Carasi pabhijja khilāni;
you wander with hard-heartedness dissolved.
ตํ ปสฺสถ พนฺธปมุญฺจกรํ✎ ร่าง
Taṁ passatha bandhapamuñcakaraṁ,
See him, the liberator from bonds,
อสิตํ ภาคโส ปวิภชฺชํ✎ ร่าง
Asitaṁ bhāgaso pavibhajaṁ.

โอฆสฺส หิ นิตฺถรณตฺถํ✎ ร่าง
Oghassa nittharaṇatthaṁ,
You have explained in many ways

Anekavihitaṁ maggaṁ akkhāsi;
the path to cross the flood.
ตสฺมึ เจ อมเต อกฺขาเต✎ ร่าง
Tasmiñce amate akkhāte,
The Seers of Truth stand unfaltering
ธมฺมทฺทสา ฐิตา อสํหิรา✎ ร่าง
Dhammaddasā ṭhitā asaṁhīrā.
in the freedom from death explained by you.
ปชฺโชตกโร อติวิชฺฌ ธมฺมํ✎ ร่าง
Pajjotakaro ativijjha,
As the bringer of light who has pierced the truth,

สพฺพทิฏฺฐีนํ อติกฺกมมทฺทส✎ ร่าง
Sabbaṭṭhitīnaṁ atikkamamaddasa;
you’ve seen what lies beyond all planes.
ญตฺวา จ สจฺฉิกตฺวา จ✎ ร่าง
Ñatvā ca sacchikatvā ca,
When you saw and realized this for yourself,
อคฺคํ โส เทสยิ ทสฏฺฐานํ✎ ร่าง
Aggaṁ so desayi dasaddhānaṁ.
you taught it first to the group of five.
เอวํ สุเทสิเต ธมฺเม✎ ร่าง
Evaṁ sudesite dhamme,
When the Dhamma has been so well taught,
โก ปมาโท วิชานตํ✎ ร่าง
Ko pamādo vijānataṁ dhammaṁ;
how could those who know it be negligent?
