[๙๑๑] พระผู้มีพระภาค ฯลฯ จึงได้ตรัสคาถาประพันธ์ต่อไปอีกว่า เทวดาชั้นดาวดึงส์กล่าวนรชนผู้เป็นบุคคลเลี้ยงมารดาบิดา...ว่า เป็น สัปบุรุษ ดังนี้ ฯ

อิทมโวจ ฯเปฯ มาตาเปตฺติภรํ ชนฺตุํ✎ ร่าง

Mātāpettibharaṁ jantuṁ,

A child who respects their parents,

sn11.12:9.2 #

กุเล เชฏฺฐาปจายินํ✎ ร่าง

kule jeṭṭhāpacāyinaṁ;

and honors the elders in the family,

sn11.12:9.3 #

สณฺหํ สขิลสมฺภาสํ✎ ร่าง

Saṇhaṁ sakhilasambhāsaṁ,

whose speech is gentle and courteous,

sn11.12:9.4 #

เปสุเณยฺยปฺปหายินํ✎ ร่าง

pesuṇeyyappahāyinaṁ.

and has given up backbiting;

sn11.12:10.1 #

มจฺเฉรวินเย ยุตฺตํ✎ ร่าง

Maccheravinaye yuttaṁ,

who’s committed to getting rid of stinginess,

sn11.12:10.2 #

สจฺจํ โกธาภิภุํ นรํ✎ ร่าง

saccaṁ kodhābhibhuṁ naraṁ;

is truthful, and has mastered anger:

sn11.12:10.3 #

ตํ เว เทวา ตาวตึสา✎ ร่าง

Taṁ ve devā tāvatiṁsā,

the gods of the thirty-three declare

sn11.12:10.4 #

อาหุ สปฺปุริโส อิตีติ ฯ✎ ร่าง

āhu sappuriso itī”ti.

them to be a true person.”
