“Parāyanañca vo, bhikkhave, desessāmi parāyanagāmiñca maggaṁ.
“Mendicants, I will teach you the final haven and the path that leads to the final haven.

Katamañca, bhikkhave, parāyanaṁ?
And what is the final haven?
โย ภิกฺขเว ราคกฺขโย
โทสกฺขโย โมหกฺขโย ฯ✎ ร่าง
Yo, bhikkhave, rāgakkhayo dosakkhayo mohakkhayo—
The ending of greed, hate, and delusion.
อิทํ วุจฺจติ ภิกฺขเว ปรายนํ ฯ✎ ร่าง
idaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, parāyanaṁ.
This is called the final haven.
กตโม
จ ภิกฺขเว ปรายนคามิมคฺโค ฯ✎ ร่าง
Katamo ca, bhikkhave, parāyanagāmī maggo?
And what is the path that leads to the final haven?
กายคตาสติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Kāyagatāsati.
Mindfulness of the body.
อยํ วุจฺจติ ภิกฺขเว
ปรายนคามิมคฺโค ฯ✎ ร่าง
Ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, parāyanagāmimaggo.
This is called the path that leads to the final haven.
อิติ โข ภิกฺขเว เทสิตํ โว มยา ปรายนํ
เทสิโต ปรายนคามิมคฺโค ฯ✎ ร่าง
Iti kho, bhikkhave, desitaṁ vo mayā parāyanaṁ, desito parāyanagāmimaggo.
So, mendicants, I’ve taught you the final haven and the path that leads to the final haven.
ยํ ภิกฺขเว สตฺถารา กรณียํ สาวกานํ
หิเตสินา อนุกมฺปเกน อนุกมฺปํ อุปาทาย กตํ โว ตํ มยา ฯ✎ ร่าง
Yaṁ, bhikkhave, satthārā karaṇīyaṁ sāvakānaṁ hitesinā anukampakena anukampaṁ upādāya, kataṁ vo taṁ mayā.
Out of sympathy, I’ve done what a teacher should do who wants what’s best for their disciples.
เอตานิ ภิกฺขเว รุกฺขมูลานิ เอตานิ สุญฺญาคารานิ ฯ ฌายถ ภิกฺขเว
มา ปมาทตฺถ มา ปจฺฉา วิปฺปฏิสาริโน อหุวตฺถ ฯ อยํ โว
อมฺหากํ อนุสาสนีติ ฯ (ยถา อสงฺข✎ ร่าง
Etāni, bhikkhave, rukkhamūlāni, etāni suññāgārāni. Jhāyatha, bhikkhave, mā pamādattha; mā pacchā vippaṭisārino ahuvattha. Ayaṁ vo amhākaṁ anusāsanī”ti.
Here are these roots of trees, and here are these empty huts. Practice absorption, mendicants! Don’t be negligent! Don’t regret it later! This is my instruction to you.”

Tassuddānaṁ
อสงฺขตํ อนตํ อนาสวํ✎ ร่าง
Asaṅkhataṁ anataṁ anāsavaṁ,
สจฺจญฺจ ปารํ นิปุณํ สุทุทฺทสํ✎ ร่าง
Saccañca pāraṁ nipuṇaṁ sududdasaṁ;
อชชฺชรนฺตํ ๑- ธุวํ อปโลกินํ✎ ร่าง
Ajajjaraṁ dhuvaṁ apalokitaṁ,
อนิทสฺสนํ นิปฺปปญฺจสนฺตํ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Anidassanaṁ nippapañca santaṁ.
อมตํ ปณีตญฺจ สิวญฺจ เขมํ✎ ร่าง
Amataṁ paṇītañca sivañca khemaṁ,
