[๑๒๑] ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ทาน ๘ ประการนี้ ๘ ประการเป็นไฉน
คือ บางคนหวังได้จึงให้ทาน ๑ บางคนให้ทานเพราะกลัว ๑ บางคนให้ทาน
เพราะนึกว่า เขาให้แก่เราแล้ว ๑ บางคนให้ทานเพราะนึกว่า เขาจักให้
ตอบแทน ๑ บางคนให้ทานเพราะนึกว่า ทานเป็นการดี ๑ บางคนให้ทานเพราะ
นึกว่า เราหุงหากิน ชนเหล่านี้หุงหากินไม่ได้ เราหุงหากินได้ จะไม่ให้ทานแก่
ชนเหล่านี้ผู้ไม่หุงหากินไม่สมควร ๑ บางคนให้ทานเพราะนึกว่า เมื่อเราให้ทาน
กิตติศัพท์อันงามย่อมฟุ้งไป ๑ บางคนให้ทานเพื่อประดับปรุงแต่งจิต ๑ ดูกรภิกษุ
ทั้งหลาย ทาน ๘ ประการนี้แล ฯ

“Mendicants, there are these eight gifts.

What eight?
อาสชฺช
ทานํ เทติ🤖 AI จับคู่
Āsajja dānaṁ deti,
Someone might give a gift after insulting the recipient.
ภยา ทานํ เทติ🤖 AI จับคู่
bhayā dānaṁ deti,
Or they give out of fear.
อทาสิ เมติ ทานํ เทติ🤖 AI จับคู่
‘adāsi me’ti dānaṁ deti,
Or they give thinking, ‘They gave to me.’
ทสฺสติ
เมติ ทานํ เทติ🤖 AI จับคู่
‘dassati me’ti dānaṁ deti,
Or they give thinking, ‘They’ll give to me.’
สาหุ ทานนฺติ ทานํ เทติ🤖 AI จับคู่
‘sāhu dānan’ti dānaṁ deti,
Or they give thinking, ‘It’s good to give.’
อหํ ปจามิ อิเม น
ปจนฺติ นารหามิ ปจนฺโต อปจนฺตานํ ทานํ น ทาตุนฺติ ทานํ เทติ🤖 AI จับคู่
‘ahaṁ pacāmi, ime na pacanti; nārahāmi pacanto apacantānaṁ dānaṁ adātun’ti dānaṁ deti,
Or they give thinking, ‘I cook, they don’t. It wouldn’t be right for me to not give to them.’
อิมํ
เม ทานํ ททโต กลฺยาโณ กิตฺติสทฺโท อพฺภุคฺคจฺฉตีติ ทานํ เทติ🤖 AI จับคู่
‘imaṁ me dānaṁ dadato kalyāṇo kittisaddo abbhuggacchatī’ti dānaṁ deti,
Or they give thinking, ‘By giving this gift I’ll get a good reputation.’
จิตฺตาลงฺการจิตฺตปริกฺขารตฺถํ ทานํ เทติ ฯ🤖 AI จับคู่
cittālaṅkāracittaparikkhāratthaṁ dānaṁ deti.
Or they give thinking, ‘This is an adornment and requisite for the mind.’
อิมานิ โข ภิกฺขเว อฏฺฐ
ทานานีติ ฯ🤖 AI จับคู่
Imāni kho, bhikkhave, aṭṭha dānānī”ti.
These are the eight gifts.”
