[๑๗๙] ดูกรอาวุโสทั้งหลาย ภิกษุผู้ประกอบด้วยธรรม ๓ ประการ
เป็นผู้สามารถในอันปฏิบัติเพื่อประโยชน์เกื้อกูลแก่ตน แต่ไม่สามารถในอันปฏิบัติ
เพื่อประโยชน์เกื้อกูลแก่ผู้อื่น ธรรม ๓ ประการเป็นไฉน ดูกรอาวุโสทั้งหลาย
ภิกษุในธรรมวินัยนี้ ไม่เป็นผู้มีความเข้าใจได้เร็วในกุศลธรรมทั้งหลาย เป็นผู้ทรง
จำธรรมที่ได้ฟังแล้ว ๑ พิจารณาเนื้อความแห่งธรรมที่ได้ทรงจำไว้แล้ว ๑ รู้อรรถ
รู้ธรรมแล้วปฏิบัติธรรมสมควรแก่ธรรม ๑ หาเป็นผู้มีวาจางาม กล่าวถ้อยคำไพเราะ
ประกอบด้วยวาจาของชาวเมืองอันสละสลวย ไม่มีโทษ ให้รู้ประโยชน์ไม่ และ
หาชี้แจงสพรหมจารีให้เห็นแจ้ง ให้สมาทาน ให้อาจหาญ ร่าเริงไม่ ดูกรอาวุโส
ทั้งหลาย ภิกษุประกอบด้วยธรรม ๓ ประการนี้แล เป็นผู้สามารถในอันปฏิบัติ

Gihīnaṁ alābhāya parisakkati, gihīnaṁ anatthāya parisakkati, gihī akkosati paribhāsati, gihī gihīhi bhedeti, buddhassa avaṇṇaṁ bhāsati, dhammassa avaṇṇaṁ bhāsati, saṅghassa avaṇṇaṁ bhāsati, dhammikañca gihipaṭissavaṁ na saccāpeti.
They try to prevent laypeople from getting material things. They try to harm laypeople. They insult and abuse lay people. They divide laypeople against each other. They criticize the Buddha, the teaching, and the Saṅgha. They don’t keep a legitimate promise made to a layperson.
อิเมหิ โข อาวุโส ตีหิ
