[๙๕] ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย โลกธรรม ๘ ประการนี้ ย่อมหมุนไปตามโลก และโลกย่อมหมุนไปตามโลกธรรม ๘ ประการ ๘ ประการเป็นไฉน คือ ลาภ ๑ ความเสื่อมลาภ ๑ ยศ ๑ ความเสื่อมยศ ๑ นินทา ๑ สรรเสริญ ๑ สุข ๑ ทุกข์ ๑ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย โลกธรรม ๘ ประการนี้แล ย่อมหมุนไปตามโลก และโลกย่อมหมุนไปตามโลกธรรม ๘ ประการนี้ ฯ ธรรมในหมู่มนุษย์เหล่านี้ คือ ลาภ ๑ ความเสื่อมลาภ ๑ ยศ ๑ ความเสื่อมยศ ๑ นินทา ๑ สรรเสริญ ๑ สุข ๑ ทุกข์ ๑ เป็นสภาพไม่เที่ยง ไม่แน่นอน มีความแปรปรวน เป็นธรรมดา แต่ท่านผู้เป็นนักปราชญ์ มีสติ ทราบธรรม เหล่านั้นแล้ว พิจารณาเห็นว่ามีความแปรปรวนเป็นธรรมดา ธรรมอันน่าปรารถนา ย่อมย่ำยีจิตของท่านไม่ได้ ท่านย่อม ไม่ยินร้ายต่ออนิฏฐารมณ์ ท่านขจัดความยินดีและความยินร้าย เสียได้จนไม่เหลืออยู่ อนึ่ง ท่านทราบทางนิพพานอัน ปราศจากธุลี ไม่มีความเศร้าโศก เป็นผู้ถึงฝั่งแห่งภพ ย่อมทราบได้อย่างถูกต้อง ฯ

Desirable things don’t disturb their mind,

Padañca ñatvā virajaṁ asokaṁ,

Knowing the stainless, sorrowless state,
