[๒๕๑] จริงอยู่ พระสูตรนี้พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสแล้ว พระสูตรนี้พระผู้มี
พระภาคผู้เป็นพระอรหันต์ตรัสแล้ว เพราะเหตุนั้น ข้าพเจ้าได้สดับมาแล้วว่า
ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย อรูปละเอียดกว่ารูป นิโรธละเอียดกว่าอรูป ฯ
พระผู้มีพระภาคได้ตรัสเนื้อความนี้แล้ว ในพระสูตรนั้น พระผู้มีพระภาค
ตรัสคาถาประพันธ์ดังนี้ว่า
สัตว์เหล่าใดเข้าถึงรูปภพ และสัตว์เหล่าใดดำรงอยู่ใน
อรูปภพ สัตว์เหล่านั้นไม่รู้ชัดซึ่งนิโรธเป็นผู้ยังต้องกลับมา
สู่ภพใหม่ ส่วนชนเหล่าใด กำหนดรู้รูปภพแล้ว ไม่ดำรงอยู่
ในอรูปภพชนเหล่านั้นย่อมน้อมไปในนิโรธ เป็นผู้ละมัจจุเสีย
ได้ พระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้า ผู้หาอาสวะมิได้ ถูกต้องอมตธาตุ
อันไม่มีอุปธิด้วยนามกายแล้ว กระทำให้แจ้งซึ่งการสละ
คืนอุปธิ ย่อมแสดงบทอันไม่มีความโศก ปราศจากธุลี ฯ
เนื้อความแม้นี้พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสแล้ว เพราะเหตุนั้น ข้าพเจ้าได้สดับมาแล้ว

This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.

รูเปหิ
ภิกฺขเว อรูปา สนฺตตรา อรูเปหิ นิโรโธ สนฺตตโรติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
“Rūpehi, bhikkhave, arūpā santatarā, arūpehi nirodho santataro”ti.
“Mendicants, formless states are more peaceful than states of form; cessation is more peaceful than formless states.”
เอตมตฺถํ ภควา อโวจ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca.
The Buddha spoke this matter.
ตตฺเถตํ อิติ วุจฺจติ✎ ร่าง
Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:
On this it is said:
เย จ รูปูปคา สตฺตา✎ ร่าง
“Ye ca rūpūpagā sattā,
“There are beings in the realm of luminous form,
เย จ อรูปฏฺฐายิโน✎ ร่าง
ye ca arūpaṭṭhāyino;
and others stuck in the formless.
นิโรธํ อปฺปชานนฺตา✎ ร่าง
Nirodhaṁ appajānantā,
Not understanding cessation,
อาคนฺตาโร ปุนพฺภวํ ฯ✎ ร่าง
āgantāro punabbhavaṁ.
they return in future lives.
เย จ รูเป ปริญฺญาย✎ ร่าง
Ye ca rūpe pariññāya,
But the people who completely understand form,
อรูเปสุ อสณฺฐิตา✎ ร่าง
arūpesu asaṇṭhitā;
not stuck in the formless,
นิโรเธ เย วิมุจฺจนฺติ✎ ร่าง
Nirodhe ye vimuccanti,
released in cessation—
เต ชนา มจฺจุหายิโน ฯ✎ ร่าง
te janā maccuhāyino.
they are conquerors of death.
กาเยน อมตํ ธาตุํ✎ ร่าง
Kāyena amatadhātuṁ,
Having directly experienced the element free of death,
ผุสฺสยิตฺวา นิรูปธิ✎ ร่าง
phusayitvā nirūpadhiṁ;
free of attachments;
อุปธิปฺปฏินิสฺสคฺคํ✎ ร่าง
Upadhippaṭinissaggaṁ,
having realized relinquishment
สจฺฉิกตฺวา อนาสโว✎ ร่าง
sacchikatvā anāsavo;
of attachments, the undefiled
เทเสติ สมฺมาสมฺพุทฺโธ✎ ร่าง
Deseti sammāsambuddho,
fully awakened Buddha teaches
อโสกํ วิรชํ ปทนฺติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
asokaṁ virajaṁ padan”ti.
the sorrowless, stainless state.”
อยมฺปิ อตฺโถ วุตฺโต ภควตา อิติ เม สุตนฺติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
