เทฺวมานิ ภิกฺขเว ทานานิ✎ ร่าง
“Dvemāni, bhikkhave, dānāni—
“There are, mendicants, these two gifts.

āmisadānañca dhammadānañca.
A gift of things of the flesh and a gift of the teaching.
เอตทคฺคํ ภิกฺขเว อิเมสํ ทฺวินฺนํ ทานานํ ยทิทํ ธมฺมทานํ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ dvinnaṁ dānānaṁ yadidaṁ dhammadānaṁ.
The better of these two gifts is the gift of the teaching.
เทฺวเม ภิกฺขเว สํวิภาคา✎ ร่าง
Dveme, bhikkhave, saṁvibhāgā—
There are these two kinds of sharing.
อามิสสํวิภาโค จ ธมฺมสํวิภาโค จ✎ ร่าง
āmisasaṁvibhāgo ca dhammasaṁvibhāgo ca.
Sharing things of the flesh and sharing the teaching.
เอตทคฺคํ ภิกฺขเว อิเมสํ ทฺวินฺนํ สํวิภาคานํ ยทิทํ ธมฺมสํวิภาโค ฯ✎ ร่าง
Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ dvinnaṁ saṁvibhāgānaṁ yadidaṁ dhammasaṁvibhāgo.

There are these two kinds of support.
อามิสานุคฺคโห จ ธมฺมานุคฺคโห จ✎ ร่าง
āmisānuggaho ca dhammānuggaho ca.
Support in things of the flesh and support in the teaching.
เอตทคฺคํ ภิกฺขเว อิเมสํ ทฺวินฺนํ อนุคฺคหานํ ยทิทํ ธมฺมานุคฺคโหติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ dvinnaṁ anuggahānaṁ yadidaṁ dhammānuggaho”ti.
The better of these two kinds of support is support in the teaching.”

The Buddha spoke this matter.

Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:
On this it is said:
ยมาหุ ทานํ ปรมํ อนุตฺตรํ✎ ร่าง
“Yamāhu dānaṁ paramaṁ anuttaraṁ,
“It is said to be the supreme, ultimate gift,
ยํ สํวิภาคํ ภควา อวณฺณยิ✎ ร่าง
Yaṁ saṁvibhāgaṁ bhagavā avaṇṇayi;
and the sharing praised by the Buddha;
อคฺคมฺหิ เขตฺตมฺหิ ปสนฺนจิตฺโต✎ ร่าง
Aggamhi khettamhi pasannacitto,
what wise and sensible person, confident in the best of fields,
วิญฺญู ปชานํ โก น ยเชถ กาเล ฯ✎ ร่าง
Viññū pajānaṁ ko na yajetha kāle.
would not sow a such timely gift?
เย เจว ภาสนฺติ สุณนฺติ จูภยํ✎ ร่าง
Ye ceva bhāsanti suṇanti cūbhayaṁ,
For those who are diligent in the dispensation of the Holy One,

ปสนฺนจิตฺตา สุคตสฺส สาสเน✎ ร่าง
Pasannacittā sugatassa sāsane;
both those who speak and those who listen,
เตสํ โส อตฺโถ ปรโม วิสุชฺฌติ✎ ร่าง
Tesaṁ so attho paramo visujjhati,
confident in the dispensation of the Holy One,
เย อปฺปมตฺตา สุคตสฺส สาสเนติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Ye appamattā sugatassa sāsane”ti.
such a gift purifies the highest goal.”

Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
