[๒๘๗] ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย พราหมณ์และคฤหบดีทั้งหลายเป็นผู้มี
อุปการะมากแก่เธอทั้งหลาย บำรุงเธอทั้งหลายด้วยจีวร บิณฑบาต เสนาสนะและ
คิลานปัจจัยเภสัชบริขาร แม้เธอทั้งหลายก็จงเป็นผู้มีอุปการะมากแก่พราหมณ์และ
คฤหบดีทั้งหลาย จงแสดงธรรมอันงามในเบื้องต้น งามในท่ามกลาง งามในที่สุด
จงประกาศพรหมจรรย์พร้อมทั้งอรรถ พร้อมทั้งพยัญชนะ บริสุทธิ์บริบูรณ์สิ้นเชิง
แก่พราหมณ์และคฤหบดีเหล่านั้นเถิด ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย คฤหัสถ์และบรรพชิต
ทั้งหลาย ต่างอาศัยซึ่งกันและกันด้วยอำนาจอามิสทานและธรรมทาน อยู่ประพฤติ
พรหมจรรย์นี้ เพื่อต้องการสลัดโอฆะ เพื่อจะทำซึ่งที่สุดแห่งทุกข์โดยชอบด้วย
ประการอย่างนี้ ฯ
คฤหัสถ์และบรรพชิตทั้งหลาย ต่างอาศัยกันและกันทั้ง ๒ ฝ่าย
ย่อมยังสัทธรรมอันเกษมจากโยคะอย่างยอดเยี่ยมให้สำเร็จ
บรรพชิตทั้งหลายย่อมปรารถนาเฉพาะจีวร บิณฑบาต ที่นอน
ที่นั่ง และคิลานปัจจัย อันเป็นเครื่องบรรเทาเสียซึ่งอันตราย
จากคฤหัสถ์ทั้งหลาย ส่วนคฤหัสถ์ทั้งหลายผู้อยู่ครองเรือน
อาศัยพระอริยบุคคลผู้ปฏิบัติชอบแล้ว เชื่อถือซึ่งถ้อยคำของ
พระอรหันต์ทั้งหลาย มีปรกติเพ่งพินิจด้วยปัญญาอันบริสุทธิ์ดี
ประพฤติธรรมอันเป็นทางไปสู่สุคติในศาสนานี้ มีปรกติ
เพลิดเพลิน เป็นผู้ใคร่กามบันเทิงอยู่ในเทวโลก ฯ

พหุการา ภิกฺขเว พฺราหฺมณคหปติกา ตุมฺหากํ
เย เต ๒- ปจฺจุปฏฺฐิตา จีวรปิณฺฑปาตเสนาสนคิลานปจฺจยเภสชฺช-
ปริกฺขาเรหิ ฯ✎ ร่าง
“Bahukārā, bhikkhave, brāhmaṇagahapatikā tumhākaṁ ye vo paccupaṭṭhitā cīvarapiṇḍapātasenāsanagilānapaccayabhesajjaparikkhārehi.
“Mendicants, brahmins and householders are very helpful to you, as they provide you with robes, almsfood, lodgings, and medicines and supplies for the sick.
ตุเมฺหปิ ภิกฺขเว พหุการา พฺราหฺมณคหปติกานํ
ยํ เนสํ ธมฺมํ เทเสถ อาทิกลฺยาณํ มชฺเฌกลฺยาณํ ปริโยสานกลฺยาณํ
สาตฺถํ สพฺยญฺชนํ เกวลปริปุณฺณํ ปริสุทฺธํ พฺรหฺมจริยํ ปกาเสถ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Tumhepi, bhikkhave, bahukārā brāhmaṇagahapatikānaṁ yaṁ nesaṁ dhammaṁ desetha ādikalyāṇaṁ majjhekalyāṇaṁ pariyosānakalyāṇaṁ sātthaṁ sabyañjanaṁ, kevalaparipuṇṇaṁ parisuddhaṁ brahmacariyaṁ pakāsetha.
And you are very helpful to brahmins and householders, as you teach them the Dhamma that’s good in the beginning, good in the middle, and good in the end, meaningful and well-phrased. And you reveal a spiritual practice that’s entirely full and pure.
เอวมิทํ ภิกฺขเว อญฺญมญฺญํ นิสฺสาย พฺรหฺมจริยํ วุสฺสติ
โอฆสฺส นิตฺถรณตฺถาย สมฺมาทุกฺขสฺส อนฺตกิริยายาติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Evamidaṁ, bhikkhave, aññamaññaṁ nissāya brahmacariyaṁ vussati oghassa nittharaṇatthāya sammā dukkhassa antakiriyāyā”ti.
That is how this spiritual path is lived supporting each other in order to cross over the flood and make a complete end of suffering.”

The Buddha spoke this matter.

On this it is said:
สาคารา อนาคารา จ✎ ร่าง
“Sāgārā anagārā ca,
“The home-dweller and the homeless,

อุโภ อญฺโญญฺญนิสฺสิตา✎ ร่าง
ubho aññoññanissitā;
supporting each other,
อาราธยนฺติ สทฺธมฺมํ✎ ร่าง
Ārādhayanti saddhammaṁ,
find success in the true teaching,
โยคกฺเขมํ อนุตฺตรํ✎ ร่าง
yogakkhemaṁ anuttaraṁ.
the supreme sanctuary from the yoke.
สาคาเรสุ จ จีวรํ✎ ร่าง
Sāgāresu ca cīvaraṁ,
The homeless receive requisites

paccayaṁ sayanāsanaṁ;
from the home-dwellers:
อนาคารา ปฏิจฺฉนฺติ✎ ร่าง
Anagārā paṭicchanti,
robes and lodgings
ปริสฺสยวิโนทนํ ฯ✎ ร่าง
parissayavinodanaṁ.
to shelter from harsh conditions.
สุคตํ ปน นิสฺสาย✎ ร่าง
Sugataṁ pana nissāya,
Relying on the Holy One,
คหฏฺฐา ฆรเมสิโน✎ ร่าง
gahaṭṭhā gharamesino;
layfolk and householders of discernment
สทฺทหานา ๑- อรหตํ✎ ร่าง
Saddahānā arahataṁ,
place faith in the perfected ones,
อริยปญฺญาย ฌายิโน✎ ร่าง
ariyapaññāya jhāyino.
meditators of noble wisdom.
อิธ ธมฺมํ จริตฺวาน✎ ร่าง
Idha dhammaṁ caritvāna,
Having practiced the teaching here,
มคฺคํ สุคติคามินํ✎ ร่าง
maggaṁ sugatigāminaṁ;
the path that goes to a good place,
นนฺทิโน เทวโลกสฺมึ✎ ร่าง
Nandino devalokasmiṁ,
they delight in the heavenly realm,
โมทนฺติ กามกามิโนติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
modanti kāmakāmino”ti.
enjoying all the pleasures they desire.”

Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
