[๓๕๕] มารได้เข้ามาหาเราผู้มีตนส่งไปแล้วเพื่อความเพียร บากบั่น อย่างยิ่ง เพ่งอยู่ ที่ใกล้ฝั่งแม่น้ำเนรัญชรา เพื่อบรรลุนิพพาน อันเกษมจากโยคะ กล่าววาจาน่าเอ็นดูว่า ท่านผู้ซูบผอม มีผิว พรรณเศร้าหมอง ความตายของท่านอยู่ในที่ใกล้ เหตุแห่ง ความตายของท่านมีตั้งพันส่วน ความเป็นอยู่ของท่านมีส่วน เดียว ชีวิตของท่านผู้ยังเป็นอยู่ประเสริฐกว่า เพราะว่าท่าน เป็นอยู่จักกระทำบุญได้ ท่านประพฤติพรหมจรรย์ และบูชา ไฟอยู่ ย่อมสั่งสมบุญได้มาก ท่านจักทำประโยชน์อะไรด้วย ความเพียร ทางเพื่อความเพียรพึงดำเนินไปได้ยาก กระทำได้ ยาก ให้เกิดความยินดีได้ยาก มารได้ยืนกล่าวคาถาเหล่านี้ใน สำนักของพระพุทธเจ้า พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสคาถาประพันธ์ นี้กะมารผู้กล่าวอย่างนั้นว่า แน่ะมารผู้มีบาป ผู้เป็นเผ่าพันธุ์ ของคนประมาท ท่านมาในที่นี้ด้วยความต้องการอันใด ความ ต้องการอันนั้นด้วยบุญ แม้มีประมาณน้อย ก็ไม่มีแก่เรา ส่วน ผู้ใดมีความต้องการบุญ มารควรจะกล่าวกะผู้นั้น เรามีศรัทธา ตบะ วิริยะ และปัญญา ท่านถามเราแม้ผู้มีตนส่งไปแล้ว ผู้เป็นอยู่อย่างนี้เพราะเหตุไร ลมนี้พึงพัดกระแสแม่น้ำทั้ง หลายให้เหือดแห้งไปได้ เลือดน้อยหนึ่งของเราผู้มีใจเด็ด เดี่ยวไม่พึงเหือดแห้ง เมื่อโลหิตเหือดแห้งไปอยู่ ดีและเสลษม์ ย่อมเหือดแห้งไป เมื่อเนื้อสิ้นไปอยู่ จิตย่อมเลื่อมใสโดยยิ่ง สติปัญญา และสมาธิของเรา ย่อมตั้งมั่นโดยยิ่ง เรานั้นถึงจะ ได้รับเวทนาอันแรงกล้าอยู่อย่างนี้ จิตย่อมไม่เพ่งเล็งกาม ทั้งหลาย ท่านจงดูความที่สัตว์เป็นผู้บริสุทธิ์ กามทั้งหลาย เรากล่าวว่าเป็นเสนาที่ ๑ ของท่าน ความไม่ยินดีเรากล่าวว่า เป็นเสนาที่ ๒ ของท่าน ความหิวและความระหาย เรากล่าว ว่าเป็นเสนาที่ ๓ ของท่าน ตัณหา เรากล่าวว่าเป็นเสนา ที่ ๔ ของท่าน ถีนมิทธะ เรากล่าวว่าเป็นเสนาที่ ๕ ของ ท่าน ความขลาดกลัว เรากล่าวว่าเป็นเสนาที่ ๖ ของท่าน ความสงสัย เรากล่าวว่าเป็นเสนาที่ ๗ ของท่าน ความลบหลู่ ความหัวดื้อ เรากล่าวว่าเป็นเสนาที่ ๘ ของท่าน ลาภ สรร- เสริญ สักการะ เรากล่าวว่าเป็นเสนาที่ ๙ ของท่าน และยศ ที่ได้มาผิดซึ่งเป็นเหตุ ให้บุคคลยกตนและดูหมิ่นผู้อื่นเรากล่าว ว่าเป็นเสนาที่ ๑๐ ของท่าน แน่ะมาร เสนาของท่านนี้มีปกติ กำจัดซึ่งคนผู้มีธรรมดำ คนผู้ไม่กล้าย่อมไม่ชนะซึ่งเสนาของ ท่านนั้น ส่วนคนผู้กล้าย่อมชนะได้ ครั้นชนะแล้วย่อมได้ ความสุข ก็เพราะเหตุที่ได้ความสุขนั้น แม้เรานี้ก็พึงรักษา หญ้ามุงกระต่ายไว้ น่าติเตียนชีวิตของเรา เราตายเสียใน สงครามประเสริฐกว่า แพ้แล้วเป็นอยู่จะประเสริฐอะไร สมณพราหมณ์บางพวกหยั่งลงแล้วในเสนาของท่านนี้ ย่อม ไม่ปรากฏ ส่วนผู้ที่มีวัตรงาม ย่อมไปโดยหนทางที่ชนทั้งหลาย ไม่รู้ เราเห็นมารพร้อมด้วยพาหนะยกออกแล้วโดยรอบ จึงมุ่งหน้าไปเพื่อรบ มารอย่าได้ยังเราให้เคลื่อนจากที่ โลก พร้อมด้วยเทวโลกย่อมครอบงำเสนาของท่านไม่ได้ เราจะ ทำลายเสนาของท่านเสียด้วยปัญญา เหมือนบุคคลทำลาย ภาชนะดินทั้งดิบทั้งสุก ด้วยก้อนหิน ฉะนั้น เราจักกระทำ สัมมาสังกัปปะให้ชำนาญและดำรงสติให้ตั้งมั่นเป็นอันดี แล้ว จักเที่ยวจากแคว้นนี้ไปยังแคว้นโน้น แนะนำสาวกเป็นอันมาก สาวกผู้ไม่ประมาทเหล่านั้นมีใจเด็ดเดี่ยว กระทำตามคำสั่ง สอนของเราจักถึงที่ซึ่งไม่มีความใคร่ ที่ชนทั้งหลายไปถึงแล้ว ย่อมไม่เศร้าโศก ฯ มารกล่าวคาถาว่า เราได้ติดตามรอยพระบาทของพระผู้มีพระภาคสิ้น ๗ ปี ไม่ได้ ประสบช่องของพระสัมพุทธเจ้าผู้มีศิริ มารได้ไปตามลม รอบๆ ก้อนหินซึ่งมีสีคล้ายก้อนมันข้น ด้วยคิดว่า เราจะ ประสบความอ่อนโยนในพระโคดมนี้บ้าง ความสำเร็จ ประโยชน์พึงมีบ้าง มารไม่ได้ความพอใจในพระสัมพุทธเจ้า ได้กลายเป็นลมหลีกไปด้วยคิดว่า เราถึงพระโคดมแล้ว จะทำให้ทรงเบื่อพระทัยหลีกไป เหมือนกาถึงไสลบรรพต แล้วบินหลีกไป ฉะนั้น พิณของมารผู้ถูกความโศกครอบงำ แล้ว ได้ตกจากรักแร้ ลำดับนั้น มารนั้นเสียใจ ได้หายไป ในที่นั้นนั่นแล ฯ

Sāvake vinayaṁ puthū.

guiding many disciples.

Diligent and resolute,

Kākova selamāsajja,
