อถ โข สภิโย ปริพฺพาชโก ภควโต ภาสิตํ อภินนฺทิตฺวา
อนุโมทิตฺวา อตฺตมโน อุทคฺโค ปมุทิโต ปีติโสมนสฺสชาโต อุฏฺฐายาสนา
เอกํสํ อุตฺตราสงฺคํ กริตฺวา เยน ภควา เตนญฺชลิมฺปณาเมตฺวา
ภควนฺตํ สมฺมุขา สารุปฺปาหิ คาถาหิ อภิตฺถวิ✎ ร่าง
Atha kho sabhiyo paribbājako bhagavato bhāsitaṁ abhinanditvā anumoditvā attamano pamudito udaggo pītisomanassajāto uṭṭhāyāsanā ekaṁsaṁ uttarāsaṅgaṁ karitvā yena bhagavā tenañjaliṁ paṇāmetvā bhagavantaṁ sammukhā sāruppāhi gāthāhi abhitthavi:
And then, having approved and agreed with what the Buddha said, uplifted and elated, full of rapture and happiness, Sabhiya rose from his seat, arranged his robe over one shoulder, raised his cupped palms toward the Buddha, and extolled the Buddha in his presence with fitting verses:

Saññakkharasaññanissitāni,
they are expressions of perception, based on perception.
โอสรณานิ วิเนยฺย โอฆตมคา ฯ✎ ร่าง
Osaraṇāni vineyya oghatamagā.
Having dispelled them all, you passed over the dark flood.
อนฺตคูสิ ปารคูสิ ๓- ทุกฺขสฺส✎ ร่าง
Antagūsi pāragū dukkhassa,
You have gone to the end, gone beyond suffering,

Arahāsi sammāsambuddho khīṇāsavaṁ taṁ maññe;
you are perfected, a fully awakened Buddha; I think you have ended defilements.
ชุติมา มติมา ปหุตปญฺโญ✎ ร่าง
Jutimā mutimā pahūtapañño,
Brilliant, intelligent, abounding in wisdom,
ทุกฺขสฺสนฺตกรํ ๕- อตาเรสิ มํ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Dukkhassantakara atāresi maṁ.
ender of suffering—you brought me across!
ยํ เม กงฺขิตมญฺญาสิ✎ ร่าง
Yaṁ me kaṅkhitamaññāsi,
When you understood my uncertainty,
วิจิกิจฺฉํ ๖- มํ อตารยิ
นโม เต✎ ร่าง
Vicikicchā maṁ tārayi namo te;
you brought me beyond doubt—homage to you!
มุนิ) โมนปเถสุ ปตฺติปตฺต✎ ร่าง
Muni monapathesu pattipatta,
A sage, accomplished in the ways of sagacity,
อขิลาทิจฺจพนฺธุ ๗- โสรโตสิ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Akhila ādiccabandhu soratosi.
you are gentle, not hardhearted, O Kinsman of the Sun.
ยา เม กงฺขา ปุเร อาสิ✎ ร่าง
Yā me kaṅkhā pure āsi,
Any doubts that I once had,

you have answered for me, O Clear-eyed One.

Clearly you are a sage, an Awakened One,

Natthi nīvaraṇā tava.
there are no hindrances in you.

Upāyāsā ca te sabbe,
All your distress
วิทฺธสฺตา วินฬีกตา✎ ร่าง
Viddhastā vinaḷīkatā;
is blown away and mown down.
สีติภูโต ทมปฺปตฺโต✎ ร่าง
Sītibhūto damappatto,
Cooled, tamed, steadfast:
ธิติมา สจฺจนิกฺกโม ฯ✎ ร่าง
Dhitimā saccanikkamo.
truth is your strength.
ตสฺส เต นาคนาคสฺส✎ ร่าง
Tassa te nāganāgassa,
O giant among giants, O great hero,
มหาวีรสฺส ภาสโต✎ ร่าง
Mahāvīrassa bhāsato;
when you are speaking
สพฺเพ เทวา อนุโมทนฺติ✎ ร่าง
Sabbe devānumodanti,
all the gods rejoice,
อุโภ นารทปพฺพตา ฯ✎ ร่าง
Ubho nāradapabbatā.
including both Nārada and Pabbata.
นโม เต ปุริสาชญฺญ✎ ร่าง
Namo te purisājañña,
Homage to you, O thoroughbred!
นโม เต ปุริสุตฺตม✎ ร่าง
Namo te purisuttama;
Homage to you, supreme among men!
สเทวกสฺมึ โลกสฺมึ✎ ร่าง
Sadevakasmiṁ lokasmiṁ,
In the world with its gods,
นตฺถิ เต ปฏิปุคฺคโล ฯ✎ ร่าง
Natthi te paṭipuggalo.
you have no rival.
ตุวํ พุทฺโธ ตุวํ สตฺถา✎ ร่าง
Tuvaṁ buddho tuvaṁ satthā,
You are the Buddha, you are the Teacher,

you’ve crossed over, and you bring humanity across.
อุปธี เต สมติกฺกนฺตา✎ ร่าง
Upadhī te samatikkantā,
You have transcended attachments,
อาสวา เต ปทาลิตา✎ ร่าง
Āsavā te padālitā;
your defilements are shattered;
สีโหสิ อนุปาทาโน✎ ร่าง
Sīhosi anupādāno,
you are a lion, free of grasping,
ปหีนภยเภรโว✎ ร่าง
Pahīnabhayabheravo.
with fear and dread given up.
ปุณฺฑรีกํ ยถา วคฺคุ✎ ร่าง
Puṇḍarīkaṁ yathā vaggu,
Like a graceful lotus
โตเย น อุปลิมฺปติ✎ ร่าง
Toye na upalimpati;
to which water does not stick,
เอวํ ปุญฺเญ จ ปาเป จ✎ ร่าง
Evaṁ puññe ca pāpe ca,
so both good and evil
อุภเย ตฺวํ น ลิมฺปสิ✎ ร่าง
Ubhaye tvaṁ na limpasi;
do not stick to you.
ปาเท วีร ปสาเรหิ✎ ร่าง
Pāde vīra pasārehi,
Stretch out your feet, great hero:
สภิโย วนฺทติ สตฺถุโนติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Sabhiyo vandati satthuno”ti.
Sabhiya bows to the Teacher.”
