อิทมโวจ ภควา✎ ร่าง
Idamavoca bhagavā.
That is what the Buddha said.
อิทํ วตฺวาน สุคโต อถาปรํ
เอตทโวจ สตฺถา✎ ร่าง
Idaṁ vatvāna sugato athāparaṁ etadavoca satthā:
Then the Holy One, the Teacher, went on to say:
โย สีลวา ทุสฺสีเลสุ ททาติ
ทานํ✎ ร่าง
“Yo sīlavā dussīlesu dadāti dānaṁ,
“When an ethical person with trusting heart
ธมฺเมน ลทฺธํ ๑- สุปสนฺนจิตฺโต✎ ร่าง
Dhammena laddhaṁ supasannacitto;
gives a proper gift to unethical persons,
อภิสทฺทหํ กมฺมผลํ อุฬารํ✎ ร่าง
Abhisaddahaṁ kammaphalaṁ uḷāraṁ,
trusting in the ample fruit of deeds,
สา ทกฺขิณา ทายกโต วิสุชฺฌติ✎ ร่าง
Sā dakkhiṇā dāyakato visujjhati.
that offering is purified by the giver.
โย ทุสฺสีโล สีลวนฺเตสุ ททาติ
ทานํ✎ ร่าง
Yo dussīlo sīlavantesu dadāti dānaṁ,
When an unethical and untrusting person,
อธมฺเมน ลทฺธํ อปฺปสนฺนจิตฺโต✎ ร่าง
Adhammena laddhaṁ appasannacitto;
gives an improper gift to ethical persons,
อนภิสทฺทหํ กมฺมผลํ อุฬารํ✎ ร่าง
Anabhisaddahaṁ kammaphalaṁ uḷāraṁ,
not trusting in the ample fruit of deeds,
สา ทกฺขิณา ปฏิคฺคาหกโต วิสุชฺฌติ✎ ร่าง
Sā dakkhiṇā paṭiggāhakato visujjhati.
that offering is purified by the receivers.
โย ทุสฺสีโล ทุสฺสีเลสุ ททาติ
ทานํ✎ ร่าง
Yo dussīlo dussīlesu dadāti dānaṁ,
When an unethical and untrusting person,

น ตํ ทานํ วิปุลผลนฺติ พฺรูมิ✎ ร่าง
Na taṁ dānaṁ vipulapphalanti brūmi.
I declare that gift is not very fruitful.
โย สีลวา สีลวนฺเตสุ ททาติ
ทานํ✎ ร่าง
Yo sīlavā sīlavantesu dadāti dānaṁ,

ธมฺเมน ลทฺธํ สุปสนฺนจิตฺโต✎ ร่าง
Dhammena laddhaṁ supasannacitto;

trusting in the ample fruit of deeds,
ตํ เว ทานํ วิปุลผลนฺติ พฺรูมิ✎ ร่าง
Taṁ ve dānaṁ vipulapphalanti brūmi.
I declare that gift is abundantly fruitful.
โย วีตราโค วีตราเคสุ ททาติ
ทานํ✎ ร่าง
Yo vītarāgo vītarāgesu dadāti dānaṁ,
But when a passionless one gives to the passionless

Dhammena laddhaṁ supasannacitto;
a proper gift with trusting heart,
อภิสทฺทหํ กมฺมผลํ อุฬารํ✎ ร่าง
Abhisaddahaṁ kammaphalaṁ uḷāraṁ,
trusting in the ample fruit of deeds,
ตํ เว ทานํ อามิสทานานมคฺคนฺติ ๒- ฯ✎ ร่าง
Taṁ ve dānaṁ āmisadānānamaggan”ti.
that’s truly the best of material gifts.”
ทกฺขิณาวิภงฺคสุตฺตํ นิฏฺฐิตํ ทฺวาทสมํ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Dakkhiṇāvibhaṅgasuttaṁ niṭṭhitaṁ dvādasamaṁ.
วิภงฺควคฺโค จตุตฺโถ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Vibhaṅgavaggo niṭṭhito catuttho.
ตสฺสุทฺทานํ✎ ร่าง
Tassuddānaṁ
ภทฺทิสาล สมิทฺธิ จนฺท✎ ร่าง
Bhaddekānandakaccāna,
โน
อคฺคิเวส✎ ร่าง
Lomasakaṅgiyāsubho;
ฺสมาณโว วรญาณี
สารถิ อุทฺทิสฺสินา อรเณน
ปุกฺกุส สจฺจวโร วทานํ ฯ
