[๖๗๔] พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสตอบว่า
ศรัทธาเป็นพืช ความเพียรเป็นฝน ปัญญาของเราเป็นแอก
และไถ หิริเป็นงอนไถ ใจเป็นเชือก สติของเราเป็นผาล
และประตัก เรามีกายคุ้มครองแล้ว มีวาจาคุ้มครองแล้ว เป็นผู้
สำรวมแล้วในการบริโภคอาหาร เราทำการดายหญ้า (คือวาจา
สับปรับ) ด้วยคำสัตย์ โสรัจจะของเราเป็นเครื่องให้แล้ว
เสร็จงาน ความเพียรของเราเป็นเครื่องนำธุระไปให้สมหวัง
นำไปถึงความเกษมจากโยคะ ไปไม่ถอยหลัง ยังที่ซึ่งบุคคล
ไปแล้วไม่เศร้าโศก ฯ
เราทำนาอย่างนี้ นาที่เราทำนั้นย่อมมีผลเป็นอมตะ บุคคล
ทำนาอย่างนี้แล้ว ย่อมพ้นจากทุกข์ทั้งปวงได้ ฯ
กสิภารทวาชพราหมณ์กราบทูลว่า ท่านพระโคดมผู้เป็นชาวนา ขอจง
บริโภคอมฤตผลที่ท่านพระโคดมไถนั้นเถิด ฯ
สทฺธา พีชํ ตโป วุฏฺฐิ✎ ร่าง
“Saddhā bījaṁ tapo vuṭṭhi,
“Faith is my seed, fervor my rain,
ปญฺญา เม ยุคนงฺคลํ✎ ร่าง
paññā me yuganaṅgalaṁ;
and wisdom is my yoke and plough.
หิริ อีสา มโน โยตฺตํ✎ ร่าง
Hirī īsā mano yottaṁ,
Conscience is my draft-pole, mind my strap,
สติ เม ผาลปาจนํ✎ ร่าง
sati me phālapācanaṁ.
mindfulness my plowshare and goad.
กายคุตฺโต วจีคุตฺโต✎ ร่าง
Kāyagutto vacīgutto,
Guarded in body and speech,

อาหาเร อุทเร ยโต✎ ร่าง
āhāre udare yato;
I restrict my intake of food.
สจฺจํ กโรมิ นิทฺทานํ✎ ร่าง
Saccaṁ karomi niddānaṁ,
I use truth as my scythe,
โสรจฺจํ เม ปโมจนํ✎ ร่าง
soraccaṁ me pamocanaṁ.
and gentleness is my release.
วิริยํ เม ธุรโธรยฺหํ✎ ร่าง
Vīriyaṁ me dhuradhorayhaṁ,
Energy is my harnessed beast,
โยคกฺเขมาธิวาหนํ✎ ร่าง
yogakkhemādhivāhanaṁ;
transporting me to sanctuary from the yoke.
คจฺฉติ อนิวตฺตนฺตํ✎ ร่าง
Gacchati anivattantaṁ,
It goes without turning back
ยตฺถ คนฺตฺวา น โสจติ✎ ร่าง
yattha gantvā na socati.
to where there is no sorrow.
เอวเมสา กสี กฏฺฐา✎ ร่าง
Evamesā kasī kaṭṭhā,
That’s how to do the farming
สา โหติ อมตปฺผลา✎ ร่าง
sā hoti amatapphalā;
that has freedom from death as its fruit.
เอตํ กสึ กสิตฺวาน✎ ร่าง
Etaṁ kasiṁ kasitvāna,
When you finish this farming
สพฺพทุกฺขา ปมุจฺจตีติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
sabbadukkhā pamuccatī”ti.
you’re released from all suffering.”
ภุญฺชตุ ภวํ โคตโม✎ ร่าง
“Bhuñjatu bhavaṁ gotamo.
“May the worthy Gotama eat!
กสฺสโก ภวํ✎ ร่าง
Kassako bhavaṁ.
The worthy one is a farmer.
ยญฺหิ ภวํ โคตโม อมตปฺผลํปิ ๑-
กสตีติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Yañhi bhavaṁ gotamo amatapphalampi kasiṁ kasatī”ti.
For the worthy Gotama does the farming that has freedom from death as its fruit.”
