[๘๒๖] สมัยหนึ่ง พระผู้มีพระภาคประทับในสีตวัน เขตกรุง
ราชคฤห์ ฯ
สมัยนั้นแล อนาถบิณฑิกคฤหบดีไปถึงกรุงราชคฤห์ด้วยกรณียกิจ
บางอย่าง ฯ
อนาถบิณฑิกคฤหบดีได้สดับว่า เขาลือกันว่าพระพุทธเจ้าเสด็จอุบัติแล้ว
ในโลก จึงในขณะนั้นเอง ปรารถนาจะเข้าเฝ้าพระผู้มีพระภาค ฯ
ครั้งนั้นแล ท่านอนาถบิณฑิกคฤหบดีได้ดำริว่า วันนี้เป็นกาลไม่ควรเพื่อ
จะเข้าเฝ้าพระผู้มีพระภาค พรุ่งนี้เถิด เราจึงจักเข้าเฝ้าท่านคฤหบดีนอนรำพึงถึง
พระพุทธเจ้า สำคัญว่าสว่างแล้วลุกขึ้นในราตรีถึง ๓ ครั้ง ฯ
ลำดับนั้น ท่านคฤหบดีเดินไปทางประตูป่าช้า พวกอมนุษย์เปิดประตูให้ ฯ
เอกํ สมยํ ภควา ราชคเห วิหรติ สีตวเน ฯ✎ ร่าง
Ekaṁ samayaṁ bhagavā rājagahe viharati sītavane.
At one time the Buddha was staying near Rājagaha in the Cool Grove.

vineyya hadaye daraṁ;
and removed the stress from the heart,
เตน
โข ปน สมเยน อนาถปิณฺฑิโก คหปติ ราชคหํ อนุปฺปตฺโต โหติ
เกนจิเทว กรณีเยน ฯ✎ ร่าง
Tena kho pana samayena anāthapiṇḍiko gahapati rājagahaṁ anuppatto hoti kenacideva karaṇīyena.
Now at that time the householder Anāthapiṇḍika had arrived at Rājagaha on some business.
อสฺโสสิ โข อนาถปิณฺฑิโก คหปติ✎ ร่าง
Assosi kho anāthapiṇḍiko gahapati:
He heard
พุทฺโธ
กิร โลเก อุปฺปนฺโนติ✎ ร่าง
“buddho kira loke uppanno”ti.
a rumor that a Buddha had arisen in the world.
ตาวเทว จ ปน ภควนฺตํ ทสฺสนาย
อุปสงฺกมิตุกาโม โหติ ๑- ฯ อถ ๒- โข อนาถปิณฺฑิกสฺส
คหปติสฺส เอตทโหสิ✎ ร่าง
Tāvadeva ca pana bhagavantaṁ dassanāya upasaṅkamitukāmo hoti. Athassa anāthapiṇḍikassa gahapatissa etadahosi:
Right away he wanted to go and see the Buddha, but he thought,
อกาโล โข อชฺช ภควนฺตํ ทสฺสนาย
อุปสงฺกมิตุํ✎ ร่าง
“akālo kho ajja bhagavantaṁ dassanāya upasaṅkamituṁ.
“It’s too late to go and see the Buddha today.
เสฺวทานาหํ กาเลน ภควนฺตํ ทสฺสนาย
อุปสงฺกมิสฺสามีติ ฯ พุทฺธคตาย สติยา นิปชฺชิ✎ ร่าง
Sve dānāhaṁ kālena bhagavantaṁ dassanāya gamissāmī”ti buddhagatāya satiyā nipajji.
I’ll go and see him tomorrow.” He went to bed thinking of the Buddha.
รตฺติยา
สุทํ ติกฺขตฺตุํ วุฏฺฐาสิ ปภาตนฺติ มญฺญมาโน ฯ✎ ร่าง
Rattiyā sudaṁ tikkhattuṁ vuṭṭhāsi pabhātanti maññamāno.
During the night he got up three times thinking it was morning.
อถ โข
อนาถปิณฺฑิโก คหปติ เยน สีวถิกทฺวารํ เตนุปสงฺกมิ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Atha kho anāthapiṇḍiko gahapati yena sivathikadvāraṁ tenupasaṅkami.
Then he approached the Sivaka Gate,
อมนุสฺสา ทฺวารํ วิวรึสุ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Amanussā dvāraṁ vivariṁsu.
and non-human beings opened it for him.
