Katamo ca, bhikkhave, dukkhassa atthaṅgamo?
And what is the disappearance of suffering?
จกฺขุญฺจ
ปฏิจฺจ รูเป จ อุปฺปชฺชติ จกฺขุวิญฺญาณํ ติณฺณํ สงฺคติ ผสฺโส✎ ร่าง
Cakkhuñca paṭicca rūpe ca uppajjati cakkhuviññāṇaṁ. Tiṇṇaṁ saṅgati phasso.
Eye consciousness arises dependent on the eye and sights. The meeting of the three is contact.
ผสฺสปจฺจยา เวทนา✎ ร่าง
Phassapaccayā vedanā;
Contact is a requirement for feeling.
เวทนาปจฺจยา ตณฺหา✎ ร่าง
vedanāpaccayā taṇhā.
Feeling is a requirement for craving.
ตสฺสาเยว ตณฺหาย
อเสสวิราคนิโรธา อุปาทานนิโรโธ✎ ร่าง
Tassāyeva taṇhāya asesavirāganirodhā upādānanirodho;
When that craving fades away and ceases with no residue left behind, grasping ceases.
อุปาทานนิโรธา ภวนิโรโธ✎ ร่าง
upādānanirodhā bhavanirodho;
When grasping ceases, continued existence ceases.
ภวนิโรธา ชาตินิโรโธ✎ ร่าง
bhavanirodhā jātinirodho;
When continued existence ceases, rebirth ceases.
ชาตินิโรธา ชรามรณํ โสกปริเทวทุกฺข-
โทมนสฺสุปายาสา นิรุชฺฌนฺติ✎ ร่าง
jātinirodhā jarāmaraṇaṁ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsā nirujjhanti.
When rebirth ceases, old age and death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, sadness, and distress cease.
เอวเมตสฺส เกวลสฺส ทุกฺขกฺขนฺธสฺส
นิโรโธ โหติ✎ ร่าง
Evametassa kevalassa dukkhakkhandhassa nirodho hoti.
That is how this entire mass of suffering ceases.
อยํ โข ภิกฺขเว ทุกฺขสฺส อตฺถงฺคโม ฯ✎ ร่าง
Ayaṁ kho, bhikkhave, dukkhassa atthaṅgamo.
This is the disappearance of suffering.
