[๑๐๙] ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ต้นไม้ ๔ ชนิดนี้ ๔ ชนิดเป็นไฉน คือ ต้นไม้กระพี้มีไม้กระพี้เป็นบริวารชนิด ๑ ต้นไม้กระพี้มีไม้แก่นเป็นบริวารชนิด ๑ ต้นไม้แก่นมีไม้กระพี้เป็นบริวารชนิด ๑ ต้นไม้แก่นมีไม้แก่นเป็นบริวารชนิด ๑ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ต้นไม้ ๔ ชนิดนี้แล ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ฉันนั้นเหมือนกัน บุคคลเปรียบด้วยต้นไม้ ๔ จำพวกนี้ มีปรากฏอยู่ในโลก ๔ จำพวกเป็นไฉน คือ บุคคลดุจไม้กระพี้มีไม้กระพี้เป็นบริวารจำพวก ๑ ดุจไม้กระพี้มีไม้แก่นเป็นบริวาร จำพวก ๑ ดุจไม้แก่นมีไม้กระพี้เป็นบริวารจำพวก ๑ ดุจไม้แก่นมีไม้แก่นเป็นบริวาร จำพวก ๑ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ก็บุคคลเป็นดุจไม้กระพี้มีไม้กระพี้เป็นบริวารอย่างไร บุคคลบางคนในโลกนี้ เป็นคนทุศีล มีบาปธรรม แม้บริษัทของเขาก็เป็นคน- *ทุศีล มีบาปธรรม บุคคลเป็นดุจไม้กระพี้มีไม้กระพี้เป็นบริวารอย่างนี้แล ดูกร ภิกษุทั้งหลาย ต้นไม้กระพี้มีไม้กระพี้เป็นบริวาร แม้ฉันใด เรากล่าวบุคคลนี้ เปรียบฉันนั้น ก็บุคคลเป็นดุจไม้กระพี้มีไม้แก่นเป็นบริวารอย่างไร บุคคลบางคน ในโลกนี้ เป็นคนทุศีล มีบาปธรรม แต่บริษัทของเขาเป็นคนมีศีล มีกัลยาณธรรม บุคคลเป็นดุจไม้กระพี้มีไม้แก่นเป็นบริวารอย่างนี้แล ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ต้นไม้กระพี้ มีไม้แก่นเป็นบริวาร แม้ฉันใด เรากล่าวบุคคลนี้เปรียบฉันนั้น ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ก็บุคคลเป็นดุจไม้แก่นมีไม้กระพี้เป็นบริวารอย่างไร บุคคลบางคนในโลกนี้ เป็น ผู้มีศีล มีกัลยาณธรรม แต่บริวารของเขาเป็นคนทุศีล มีบาปธรรม บุคคล เป็นดุจไม้แก่นมีไม้กระพี้เป็นบริวารอย่างนี้แล ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ต้นไม้แก่นมี ไม้กระพี้เป็นบริวาร แม้ฉันใด เรากล่าวบุคคลนี้เปรียบฉันนั้น ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ก็บุคคลเป็นดุจไม้แก่นมีไม้แก่นเป็นบริวารอย่างไร บุคคลบางคนในโลกนี้ เป็น ผู้มีศีล มีกัลยาณธรรม แม้บริษัทของเขาก็เป็นคนมีศีล มีกัลยาณธรรม บุคคล เป็นดุจไม้แก่นมีไม้แก่นเป็นบริวารอย่างนี้แล ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ต้นไม้แก่นมีไม้ แก่นเป็นบริวารแม้ฉันใด เรากล่าวบุคคลนี้เปรียบฉันนั้น ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย บุคคลเปรียบด้วยต้นไม้ ๔ จำพวกนี้แล มีปรากฏอยู่ในโลก ฯ
