And with the little they’ve learned, they understand neither the meaning nor the teaching, nor do they practice in line with the teaching.

Appassutopi ce hoti,
If you don’t learn much,
สีเลสุ อสมาหิโต🤖 AI จับคู่
sīlesu asamāhito;
and aren’t steady in ethics,
อุภเยน นํ ครหนฺติ🤖 AI จับคู่
Ubhayena naṁ garahanti,
they’ll criticize you on both counts,
สีลโต จ สุเตน จ ฯ🤖 AI จับคู่
sīlato ca sutena ca.
for your ethics and your learning.
อปฺปสฺสุโตปิ เจ โหติ🤖 AI จับคู่
Appassutopi ce hoti,
If you don’t learn much,
สีเลสุ สุสมาหิโต🤖 AI จับคู่
sīlesu susamāhito;
and you are steady in ethics,
สีลโต นํ ปสํสนฺติ นา🤖 AI จับคู่
Sīlato naṁ pasaṁsanti,
they’ll praise your ethical conduct,
สฺส สมฺปชฺชเต สุตํ ฯ🤖 AI จับคู่
tassa sampajjate sutaṁ.
since your learning has succeeded.
พหุสฺสุโตปิ เจ โหติ🤖 AI จับคู่
Bahussutopi ce hoti,
If you learn much,
สีเลสุ อสมาหิโต🤖 AI จับคู่
sīlesu asamāhito;
but aren’t steady in ethics,
สีลโต นํ ครหนฺติ ต🤖 AI จับคู่
Sīlato naṁ garahanti,
they’ll criticize your ethical conduct,
สฺส สมฺปชฺชเต สุตํ ฯ🤖 AI จับคู่
nāssa sampajjate sutaṁ.
for your learning hasn’t succeeded.

Bahussutopi ce hoti,
If you learn much,

ko taṁ ninditumarahati;
who is worthy to criticize them?
เทวาปิ นํ ปสํสนฺติ🤖 AI จับคู่
Devāpi naṁ pasaṁsanti,
Even the gods praise them,
พฺรหฺมุนาปิ ปสํสิโตติ ฯ🤖 AI จับคู่
brahmunāpi pasaṁsito”ti.
and by the Divinity, too, they’re praised.”
