“Mendicants, there are these five timely gifts.

What five?
อาคนฺตุกสฺส
ทานํ เทติ🤖 AI จับคู่
Āgantukassa dānaṁ deti;
A gift to a visitor.
คมิกสฺส ทานํ เทติ🤖 AI จับคู่
gamikassa dānaṁ deti;
A gift to someone setting out on a journey.
คิลานสฺส ทานํ เทติ🤖 AI จับคู่
gilānassa dānaṁ deti;
A gift to someone who is sick.
ทุพฺภิกฺเข ทานํ
เทติ🤖 AI จับคู่
dubbhikkhe dānaṁ deti;
A gift at a time of famine.
ยานิ ตานิ นวสสฺสานิ นวผลานิ ตานิ ปฐมํ สีลวนฺเตสุ
ปติฏฺฐาเปติ🤖 AI จับคู่
yāni tāni navasassāni navaphalāni tāni paṭhamaṁ sīlavantesu patiṭṭhāpeti.
Presenting the freshly harvested grains and fruits first to those who are ethical.
อิมานิ โข ภิกฺขเว ปญฺจ กาลทานานีติ ฯ🤖 AI จับคู่
Imāni kho, bhikkhave, pañca kāladānānīti.
These are the five timely gifts.
กาเล ททนฺติ สปฺปญฺญา🤖 AI จับคู่
Kāle dadanti sappaññā,
The wise give at the right time,

วทญฺญู วีตมจฺฉรา🤖 AI จับคู่
vadaññū vītamaccharā;
being bountiful and rid of stinginess.
กาเลน ๒- ทินฺนํ อริเยสุ🤖 AI จับคู่
Kālena dinnaṁ ariyesu,
A religious donation at the right time
อุชุภูเตสุ ตาทิสุ🤖 AI จับคู่
ujubhūtesu tādisu.
to the noble ones, upright and unaffected,
วิปฺปสนฺนมนา ตสฺส🤖 AI จับคู่
Vippasannamanā tassa,
given with a clear and confident mind,
วิปุลา โหติ ทกฺขิณา🤖 AI จับคู่
vipulā hoti dakkhiṇā;
is indeed abundant.
เย ตตฺถ อนุโมทนฺติ🤖 AI จับคู่
Ye tattha anumodanti,
Those who rejoice at that,
เวยฺยาวจฺจํ กโรนฺติ วา🤖 AI จับคู่
veyyāvaccaṁ karonti vā;
or do other services,
น เตน ๔- ทกฺขิณา อูนา🤖 AI จับคู่
Na tena dakkhiṇā ūnā,
don’t miss out on the offering;
เตปิ ปุญฺญสฺส ภาคิโน🤖 AI จับคู่
tepi puññassa bhāgino.
they too have a share in the merit.
ตสฺมา ทเท อปฺปฏิวาณจิตฺโต🤖 AI จับคู่
Tasmā dade appaṭivānacitto,
So you should give without holding back,
ยตฺถ ทินฺนํ มหปฺผลํ🤖 AI จับคู่
Yattha dinnaṁ mahapphalaṁ;
where a gift is very fruitful.
ปุญฺญานิ ปรโลกสฺมึ🤖 AI จับคู่
Puññāni paralokasmiṁ,
The good deeds of sentient beings
ปติฏฺฐา โหนฺติ ปาณินนฺติ ฯ🤖 AI จับคู่
Patiṭṭhā honti pāṇinan”ti.
support them in the next world.”
