But fire, water, rulers, thieves, and unloved heirs all take a share of that wealth.

The wealth of faith, ethics, conscience, prudence, learning, generosity, and wisdom.
อิมานิ โข อุคฺค สตฺต ธนานิ อสาธารณานิ อคฺคินา

There are these seven kinds of wealth that fire, water, rulers, thieves, and unloved heirs can’t take a share of.

Faith and ethical conduct are kinds of wealth,

Sutadhanañca cāgo ca,
learning and generosity,

paññā ve sattamaṁ dhanaṁ.
and wisdom is the seventh kind of wealth.

Yassa ete dhanā atthi,
When a woman or man
อิตฺถิยา ปุริสสฺส วา🤖 AI จับคู่
itthiyā purisassa vā;
has these kinds of wealth,
ส เว มหทฺธโน โลเก🤖 AI จับคู่
Sa ve mahaddhano loke,
they’re really rich in the world,
อเชยฺโย เทวมานุเส ฯ🤖 AI จับคู่
ajeyyo devamānuse.
invincible among gods and humans.
ตสฺมา สทฺธญฺจ สีลญฺจ🤖 AI จับคู่
Tasmā saddhañca sīlañca,
So let the wise devote themselves
ปสาทํ ธมฺมทสฺสนํ🤖 AI จับคู่
pasādaṁ dhammadassanaṁ;
to faith, ethical behavior,
อนุยุญฺเชถ เมธาวี🤖 AI จับคู่
Anuyuñjetha medhāvī,
confidence, and insight into the teaching,
สรํ พุทฺธานสาสนนฺติ ฯ🤖 AI จับคู่
saraṁ buddhāna sāsanan”ti.
remembering the instructions of the Buddhas.”
