เอวมฺเม สุตํ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Evaṁ me sutaṁ—
So I have heard.
เอกํ สมยํ ภควา สาวตฺถิยํ
วิหรติ เชตวเน อนาถปิณฺฑิกสฺส อาราเม ฯ✎ ร่าง
ekaṁ samayaṁ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṁ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme.
At one time the Buddha was staying near Sāvatthī in Jeta’s Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika’s monastery.
ตตฺร โข ภควา ภิกฺขู
อามนฺเตสิ✎ ร่าง
Tatra kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi:
There the Buddha addressed the mendicants,
ภิกฺขโวติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
“bhikkhavo”ti.
“Mendicants!”
ภทนฺเตติ เต ภิกฺขู ภควโต ปจฺจสฺโสสุํ ฯ✎ ร่าง
“Bhadante”ti te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṁ.
“Venerable sir,” they replied.
ภควา เอตทโวจ✎ ร่าง
Bhagavā etadavoca:
The Buddha said this:
ทพฺพสฺส ภิกฺขเว มลฺลปุตฺตสฺส เวหาสํ
อพฺภุคฺคนฺตฺวา อากาเส อนฺตลิกฺเข ปลฺลงฺเกน นิสีทิตฺวา เตโชธาตุํ
สมาปชฺชิตฺวา วุฏฺฐหิตฺวา ปรินิพฺพุตสฺส สรีรสฺส ฌายมานสฺส
ฑยฺหมานสฺส เนว ฉาริกา ปญฺญายิตฺถ น มสิ✎ ร่าง
“Dabbassa, bhikkhave, mallaputtassa vehāsaṁ abbhuggantvā ākāse antalikkhe pallaṅkena nisīditvā tejodhātuṁ samāpajjitvā vuṭṭhahitvā parinibbutassa sarīrassa jhāyamānassa ḍayhamānassa neva chārikā paññāyittha na masi.
“Mendicants, when Dabba the Mallian rose into the air and, sitting cross-legged in midair, entered and withdrew from the fire element before becoming fully quenched, his body burning and combusting left neither ashes nor soot to be found.

เสยฺยถาปิ นาม
สปฺปิสฺส วา ฌายมานสฺส ฑยฺหมานสฺส เนว ฉาริกา ปญฺญายติ
น มสิ✎ ร่าง
Seyyathāpi nāma sappissa vā telassa vā jhāyamānassa ḍayhamānassa neva chārikā paññāyati na masi;
It’s like when ghee or oil blaze and burn, and neither ashes nor soot are found.
เอวเมว ภิกฺขเว ทพฺพสฺส มลฺลปุตฺตสฺส เวหาสํ
อพฺภุคฺคนฺตฺวา อากาเส อนฺตลิกฺเข ปลฺลงฺเกน นิสีทิตฺวา เตโชธาตุํ
สมาปชฺชิตฺวา ปรินิพฺพุตสฺส สรีรสฺส ฌายมานสฺส ฑยฺหมานสฺส เนว
ฉาริกา ปญฺญายิตฺถ น มสีติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
evamevaṁ kho, bhikkhave, dabbassa mallaputtassa vehāsaṁ abbhuggantvā ākāse antalikkhe pallaṅkena nisīditvā tejodhātuṁ samāpajjitvā vuṭṭhahitvā parinibbutassa sarīrassa jhāyamānassa ḍayhamānassa neva chārikā paññāyittha na masī”ti.
In the same way, when Dabba the Mallian rose into the air and, sitting cross-legged in midair, entered and withdrew from the fire element before becoming fully quenched, his body burning and combusting left neither ashes nor soot to be found.”
อถ โข ภควา เอตมตฺถํ วิทิตฺวา
ตายํ เวลายํ อิมํ อุทานํ อุทาเนสิ✎ ร่าง
Atha kho bhagavā etamatthaṁ viditvā tāyaṁ velāyaṁ imaṁ udānaṁ udānesi:
Then, understanding this matter, on that occasion the Buddha expressed this heartfelt sentiment:
อโยฆนหตสฺเสว✎ ร่าง
“Ayoghanahatasseva,
“Just as the glow of iron struck
ชลโต ชาตเวทสฺส✎ ร่าง
jalato jātavedaso;
by a hammer in the fire of Jātaveda
อนุปุพฺพูปสนฺตสฺส✎ ร่าง
Anupubbūpasantassa,
gradually dissipates,
ยถา น ญายเต คติ✎ ร่าง
yathā na ñāyate gati.
its destiny unknown;
เอวํ สมฺมาวิมุตฺตานํ✎ ร่าง
Evaṁ sammāvimuttānaṁ,
in the same way, for the rightly released,

กามพนฺโธฆตารินํ✎ ร่าง
kāmabandhoghatārinaṁ;
who have crossed the flood of sensual bonds,
ปญฺญาเปตุํ คติ นตฺถิ✎ ร่าง
Paññāpetuṁ gati natthi,
and attained unshakable happiness,
ปตฺตานํ อจลํ สุขนฺติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
pattānaṁ acalaṁ sukhan”ti.
their destiny cannot be found.”

Nandakavaggavaro tatiyo tu,
เมฆิยวคฺควโร จตุตฺโถ✎ ร่าง
Meghiyavaggavaro ca catuttho.
ปญฺจมวคฺควรนฺติ โสโณ✎ ร่าง
Pañcamavaggavarantidha soṇo,
ฉฏฺฐมวคฺควรนฺติ ชจฺจนฺโธ✎ ร่าง
Chaṭṭhamavaggavaranti jaccandho;
สตฺตมวคฺควรนฺติ จ จูโฬ✎ ร่าง
Sattamavaggavaranti ca cūḷo,
ปาฏลิคามิยวรฏฺฐมวคฺโค ฯ✎ ร่าง
Pāṭaligāmiyamaṭṭhamavaggo.

Asītimanūnakasuttavaraṁ,
