Free of Rebirth
วุตฺตํ เหตํ ภควตา วุตฺตมรหตาติ เม สุตํ✎ ร่าง
Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:
This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.
อตฺถิ@เชิงอรรถ: ๑ โป. สา จ ยสฺมา ฯ ม. ยาย สมฺมา ฯ ยุ. ยา ฯ ๒ ยุ. สปญฺญานํ ฯ@๓ ม. หิรี ฯ ๔ ม. ยุ. ปญฺญายติ ฯ
ภิกฺขเว อชาตํ อภูตํ อกตํ อสงฺขตํ✎ ร่าง
“Atthi, bhikkhave, ajātaṁ abhūtaṁ akataṁ asaṅkhataṁ.
“There is, mendicants, freedom from rebirth, freedom from what has been produced, made, and conditioned.

โน เจตํ ภิกฺขเว อภวิสฺส
อชาตํ อภูตํ อกตํ อสงฺขตํ นยิธ ชาตสฺส ภูตสฺส กตสฺส สงฺขตสฺส
นิสฺสรณํ ปญฺญาเยถ ฯ✎ ร่าง
No cetaṁ, bhikkhave, abhavissa ajātaṁ abhūtaṁ akataṁ asaṅkhataṁ, nayidha jātassa bhūtassa katassa saṅkhatassa nissaraṇaṁ paññāyetha.
If there were no freedom from rebirth, freedom from what has been produced, made, and conditioned, then you would find no escape here from rebirth, from what has been produced, made, and conditioned.
ยสฺมา จ โข ภิกฺขเว อตฺถิ อชาตํ
อภูตํ อกตํ อสงฺขตํ ตสฺมา ชาตสฺส ภูตสฺส กตสฺส สงฺขตสฺส
นิสฺสรณํ ปญฺญาเยถาติ ๑- ฯ✎ ร่าง
Yasmā ca kho, bhikkhave, atthi ajātaṁ abhūtaṁ akataṁ asaṅkhataṁ, tasmā jātassa bhūtassa katassa saṅkhatassa nissaraṇaṁ paññāyatī”ti.
But since there is freedom from rebirth, freedom from what has been produced, made, and conditioned, an escape is found from rebirth, from what has been produced, made, and conditioned.”
เอตมตฺถํ ภควา อโวจ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca.
The Buddha spoke this matter.
ตตฺเถตํ
อิติ วุจฺจติ✎ ร่าง
Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:
On this it is said:
ชาตํ ภูตํ สมุปฺปนฺนํ✎ ร่าง
“Jātaṁ bhūtaṁ samuppannaṁ,
“What’s reborn, produced, and arisen,
กตํ สงฺขตมทฺธุวํ✎ ร่าง
kataṁ saṅkhatamaddhuvaṁ;
made, conditioned, not lasting,
ชรามรณสงฺขตํ✎ ร่าง
Jarāmaraṇasaṅghāṭaṁ,
wrapped in old age and death,
โรคนิทฺธํ ปภงฺคุณํ✎ ร่าง
roganīḷaṁ pabhaṅguraṁ.
frail, a nest of disease,
อาหารเนตฺติปฺปภวํ✎ ร่าง
Āhāranettippabhavaṁ,
whose inception is the leash to food:
นาลํ ตทภินนฺทิตุํ✎ ร่าง
nālaṁ tadabhinandituṁ;
that’s not fit to delight in.
ตสฺส นิสฺสรณํ สนฺตํ✎ ร่าง
Tassa nissaraṇaṁ santaṁ,
The escape from that is peaceful,
อตกฺกาวจรํ ธุวํ✎ ร่าง
atakkāvacaraṁ dhuvaṁ.
beyond the scope of logic, everlasting,
อชาตํ อสมุปฺปนฺนํ✎ ร่าง
Ajātaṁ asamuppannaṁ,
where nothing is reborn or arisen,

อโสกํ วิรชํ ปทํ✎ ร่าง
asokaṁ virajaṁ padaṁ;
the sorrowless, stainless state,
นิโรโธ ทุกฺขธมฺมานํ✎ ร่าง
Nirodho dukkhadhammānaṁ,
the cessation of all painful things,
สงฺขารูปสโม สุโขติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
saṅkhārūpasamo sukho”ti.
the blissful stilling of conditions.”
อยมฺปิ อตฺโถ วุตฺโต ภควตา อิติ เม สุตนฺติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
