[๒๓๒] จริงอยู่ พระสูตรนี้พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสแล้ว พระสูตรนี้
พระผู้มีพระภาคผู้เป็นพระอรหันต์ตรัสแล้ว เพราะเหตุนั้น ข้าพเจ้าได้สดับมาแล้ว
ว่า ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย การแสวงหา ๓ ประการนี้ ๓ ประการเป็นไฉน คือ การ
แสวงหากาม ๑ การแสวงหาภพ ๑ การแสวงหาพรหมจรรย์ ๑ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย
การแสวงหา ๓ ประการนี้แล ฯ
พระผู้มีพระภาคได้ตรัสเนื้อความนี้แล้ว ในพระสูตรนั้น พระผู้มีพระภาค
ตรัสคาถาประพันธ์ดังนี้ว่า
สาวกของพระพุทธเจ้า ผู้มีจิตตั้งมั่น ผู้รู้ทั่ว มีสติ ย่อมรู้ชัด
ซึ่งการแสวงหาทั้งหลาย เหตุเกิดแห่งการแสวงหาทั้งหลาย
ธรรมเป็นที่ดับแห่งการแสวงหาทั้งหลาย และมรรคอันให้ถึง
ความสิ้นไปแห่งการแสวงหาทั้งหลาย ภิกษุหายหิวแล้ว ดับ
รอบแล้ว เพราะความสิ้นไปแห่งการแสวงหาทั้งหลาย ฯ
เนื้อความแม้นี้พระผู้มีพระภาคตรัสแล้ว เพราะเหตุนั้น ข้าพเจ้าได้สดับมาแล้ว

Searches (1st)
วุตฺตํ เหตํ ภควตา วุตฺตมรหตาติ เม สุตํ✎ ร่าง
Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:
This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.

ติสฺโส
อิมา ภิกฺขเว เอสนา✎ ร่าง
“Tisso imā, bhikkhave, esanā.
“Mendicants, there are these three searches.
กตมา ติสฺโส✎ ร่าง
Katamā tisso?
What three?
กาเมสนา ภเวสนา
พฺรหฺมจริเยสนา ฯ✎ ร่าง
Kāmesanā, bhavesanā, brahmacariyesanā—
The search for sensual pleasures, the search for continued existence, and the search for a spiritual path.
อิมา โข ภิกฺขเว ติสฺโส เอสนาติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
imā kho, bhikkhave, tisso esanā”ti.
These are the three searches.
เอตมตฺถํ
ภควา อโวจ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca.
The Buddha spoke this matter.
ตตฺเถตํ อิติ วุจฺจติ✎ ร่าง
Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:
On this it is said:
สมาหิโต สมฺปชาโน✎ ร่าง
“Samāhito sampajāno,
“Stilled, aware,

สโต พุทฺธสฺส สาวโก✎ ร่าง
sato buddhassa sāvako;
a mindful disciple of the Buddha
เอสนา จ ปชานาติ✎ ร่าง
Esanā ca pajānāti,
understands searches,
เอสนานญฺจ สมฺภวํ✎ ร่าง
esanānañca sambhavaṁ.
the cause of searches,
ยตฺถ เจตา นิรุชฺฌนฺติ✎ ร่าง
Yattha cetā nirujjhanti,
where they cease,
มคฺคญฺจ ขยคามินํ✎ ร่าง
maggañca khayagāminaṁ;
and the path that leads to their ending.
เอสนานํ ขยา ภิกฺขุ✎ ร่าง
Esanānaṁ khayā bhikkhu,
With the ending of searches, a mendicant
นิจฺฉาโต ปรินิพฺพุโตติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
nicchāto parinibbuto”ti.
is hungerless, quenched.”
อยมฺปิ อตฺโถ วุตฺโต ภควตา อิติ เม สุตนฺติ ฯ✎ ร่าง
Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
