[๓๙๑] ข้าแต่พระองค์ผู้เจริญ เมื่อก่อนข้าพระองค์จะไปไหนก็ขึ้นคอช้างไป แม้ จะนุ่งห่มผ้า ก็นุ่งห่มแต่ผ้าที่ส่งมาจากแคว้นกาสีมีเนื้ออันละเอียด แม้ จะบริโภค ก็บริโภคแต่อาหารล้วนเป็นข้าวสาลี พร้อมด้วยเนื้ออัน สะอาดมีโอชารส ถึงกระนั้น ความสุขนั้นก็หาได้ทำจิตของข้าพระองค์ ให้ยินดีเหมือนความสุขในวิเวกในบัดนี้ไม่ แต่เดี๋ยวนี้ ข้าพระองค์ผู้มี นามว่าภัททิยะเป็นโอรสของพระนางกาลิโคธา เป็นผู้เจริญ ประกอบด้วย ความเพียร ยินดีแต่อาหารที่ได้มาด้วยการเที่ยวบิณฑบาต ไม่ถือมั่นใน สิ่งใดๆ เพ่งฌานอยู่ บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ผู้ชื่อว่าภัททิยะ เป็นโอรสของ พระนางกาลิโคธาถือการนุ่งห่มผ้าบังสุกุลเป็นวัตร ประกอบด้วยความ เพียร ยินดีแต่อาหารที่ได้มาด้วยการบิณฑบาต ไม่ถือมั่นในสิ่งใดๆ เพ่งฌานอยู่ บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ถือการเที่ยวบิณฑบาตเป็นวัตร ประกอบ ด้วยความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ใช้แต่ผ้าไตรจีวรเป็นวัตร ประกอบ ด้วยความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ถือการเที่ยวบิณฑบาต ไปตามลำดับ ตรอกเป็นวัตร ประกอบความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ถือการนั่งฉันบน อาสนะแห่งเดียวเป็นวัตร ประกอบด้วยความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ ถือการฉันอาหารเฉพาะในบาตรเป็นวัตร ประกอบด้วยความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ถือการฉันอาหารที่เขานำมาถวายภายหลังเป็นวัตร ประกอบ ด้วยความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ถือการอยู่ป่าเป็นวัตร ประกอบด้วย ความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ถือการอยู่โคนไม้เป็นวัตร ประกอบด้วย ความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ถือการอยู่ในที่แจ้งเป็นวัตร ประกอบด้วย ความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ถือการอยู่แต่ในป่าช้าเป็นวัตร ประกอบ ด้วยความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ถือการอยู่ในเสนาสนะตามที่ท่านจัด ให้ อย่างไรเป็นวัตร ประกอบด้วยความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ถือ การไม่นอนเป็นวัตร ประกอบด้วยความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ถือการ เป็นผู้มักน้อยเป็นวัตร ประกอบด้วยความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ถือ การเป็นผู้สันโดษเป็นวัตร ประกอบด้วยความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ ถือการเป็นผู้ชอบสงัดเป็นวัตร ประกอบด้วยความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้า- พระองค์ถือการไม่คลุกคลีด้วยหมู่คณะเป็นวัตร ประกอบด้วยความเพียร ... บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์นามว่าภัททิยะเป็นโอรสของพระนางกาลิโคธา เป็น ผู้ปรารภความเพียร ประกอบด้วยความเพียร ยินดีแต่อาหารที่ได้มาด้วย การเที่ยวบิณฑบาต ไม่ถือมั่นในสิ่งใดๆ เพ่งฌานอยู่ ข้าพระองค์ละทิ้ง เครื่องราชูปโภค คือ จานทองคำอันมีราคา ๑๐๐ ตำลึง ซึ่งประกอบ ไปด้วยลวดลายอย่างงดงาม วิจิตรไปด้วยภาพทั้งภายในและภายนอกนับ ได้ตั้ง ๑๐๐ มาใช้บาตรดินใบนี้ นี้เป็นการอภิเษกครั้งที่สอง แต่ก่อน ข้าพระองค์มีหมู่ทหารถือดาบรักษาบนป้อมและกำแพง ที่ล้อมรอบซึ่งอาจ มองเห็นได้ไกล และที่ซุ้มประตูพระนครอย่างแน่นหนา ก็ยังมีความ หวาดเสียวอยู่เป็นนิตย์ บัดนี้ ข้าพระองค์ผู้มีชื่อว่าภัททิยะ เป็นโอรส ของพระนางกาลิโคธาเป็นผู้เจริญ ไม่มีความสะดุ้งหวาดเสียว ละความ ขลาด กลัวภัยได้แล้ว มาหยั่งลงสู่ป่า เพ่งฌานอยู่ ข้าพระองค์ตั้งมั่นอยู่ ในศีลขันธ์ เจริญสติปัญญา ได้บรรลุถึงความสิ้นไปแห่งสังโยชน์ทั้งปวง โดยลำดับ.
