[๔๔๓] เมื่อก่อนเราไหว้ไฟ พระจันทร์ พระอาทิตย์และเทวดา ไปสู่ท่าน้ำ แล้วลงดำน้ำ เราสมาทานวัตรเป็นอันมาก โกนศีรษะเสียครึ่งหนึ่ง นอน แผ่นดิน ไม่กินข้าวในกลางคืน แต่ยินดีในการประดับตบแต่ง บำรุง ร่างกายนี้ ด้วยกายอาบน้ำ และนวดฟั่นขัดสี เป็นผู้ถูกกามราคะครอบ แล้ว ต่อมาเราได้ศรัทธาในพระศาสนา ออกบวชเป็นบรรพชิต เรา พิจารณาเห็นกายตามความเป็นจริงแล้ว จึงถอนกามราคะเสียได้ ตัดภพ ความอยาก และความปรารถนาทั้งปวง ไม่เกาะเกี่ยวด้วยกิเลสเครื่อง ประกอบทุกอย่าง บรรลุถึงความสงบใจแล้ว.

I ate no food at night.

Vibhūsāmaṇḍanaratā,

I loved my ornaments and decorations;

and with baths and oil-massages,

อุปกาสึ อิมํ กายํ✎ ร่าง

Upakāsiṁ imaṁ kāyaṁ,

I pandered to this body,

kāmarāgena aṭṭitā.

racked by desire for pleasures of the senses.

Tato saddhaṁ labhitvāna,

But then I gained faith,

ปพฺพชึ อนคาริยํ✎ ร่าง

pabbajiṁ anagāriyaṁ;

and went forth to homelessness.

Disvā kāyaṁ yathābhūtaṁ,

Truly seeing the body,

desire for sensual pleasure is eradicated.

สพฺเพ ภวา สมุจฺฉินฺนา✎ ร่าง

Sabbe bhavā samucchinnā,

All rebirths are cut off,

icchā ca patthanāpi ca;

wishes and aspirations too.

สพฺพโยควิสํยุตฺตา✎ ร่าง

Sabbayogavisaṁyuttā,

Unyoked from all yokes,

สนฺตึ ปาปุณึ เจตโส ฯ✎ ร่าง

santiṁ pāpuṇi cetaso”ti.

I’ve found peace of mind.
