[๔๕๘] เรายังจิตให้อยู่ในอำนาจไม่ได้ จึงไม่ได้ความสงบใจ ออกจากที่อยู่ไป
ภายนอก ๔-๕ ครั้ง ภายหลังเข้าไปหาพระเขมาภิกษุณีไต่ถามโดยเคารพ
ท่านได้แสดงธรรม คือ ธาตุ อายตนะ อริยสัจ ๔ อินทรีย์ พละ โพชฌงค์
และอัฏฐังคิกมรรค แก่เรา เพื่อการบรรลุประโยชน์อันสูงสุด เราได้
ฟังคำของท่านแล้ว กระทำตามคำพร่ำสอน ในปฐมยามแห่งราตรีนั้น
ก็ระลึกถึงชาติก่อนได้ ในมัชฌิมยามแห่งราตรี เราชำระทิพยจักษุให้
หมดจด ในปัจฉิมยามแห่งราตรี เราทำลายกองแห่งความมืดได้ ก็ใน
กาลนั้น เรามีความสุขอันเกิดแต่ปีติแผ่ไปทั่วกายอยู่ ในวันที่ครบ ๗
เราทำลายกองแห่งความมืดได้แล้ว จึงเหยียดเท้าออก.

จตุกฺขตฺตุํ ปญฺจกฺขตฺตุํ✎ ร่าง
“Catukkhattuṁ pañcakkhattuṁ,
Four or five times
วิหารา อุปนิกฺขมึ✎ ร่าง
vihārā upanikkhamiṁ;
I left my dwelling;
อลทฺธา เจตโส สนฺตึ✎ ร่าง
Aladdhā cetaso santiṁ,
I had failed to find peace of heart,
จิตฺเต อวสวตฺตินี ฯ✎ ร่าง
citte avasavattinī.
or any control over my mind.
ภิกฺขุนึ อุปสงฺกมฺม✎ ร่าง
Bhikkhuniṁ upasaṅkamma,
I approached a nun
สกฺกจฺจํ ปริปุจฺฉหํ✎ ร่าง
sakkaccaṁ paripucchahaṁ;
and politely questioned her.
สา เม ธมฺมมเทเสสิ✎ ร่าง
Sā me dhammamadesesi,
She taught me the Dhamma:
ธาตุอายตนานิ จ✎ ร่าง
dhātuāyatanāni ca.
the elements and sense fields,
จตฺตาริ อริยสจฺจานิ✎ ร่าง
Cattāri ariyasaccāni,
the four noble truths,

indriyāni balāni ca;
the faculties and the powers,
โพชฺฌงฺคฏฺฐงฺคิกํ มคฺคํ✎ ร่าง
Bojjhaṅgaṭṭhaṅgikaṁ maggaṁ,
the awakening factors, and the eightfold path
อุตฺตมตฺถสฺส ปตฺติยา ฯ✎ ร่าง
uttamatthassa pattiyā.
for the attainment of the highest goal.
ตสฺสาหํ วจนํ สุตฺวา✎ ร่าง
Tassāhaṁ vacanaṁ sutvā,
After hearing her words,

กโรนฺตี อนุสาสนึ✎ ร่าง
karontī anusāsaniṁ;
I did her bidding.
รตฺติยา ปุริเม ยาเม✎ ร่าง
Rattiyā purime yāme,
In the first watch of the night,
ปุพฺพชาติมนุสฺสรึ✎ ร่าง
pubbajātimanussariṁ.
I recollected my past lives.
รตฺติยา มชฺฌิเม ยาเม✎ ร่าง
Rattiyā majjhime yāme,
In the middle watch of the night,
ทิพฺพจกฺขุํ วิโสธยึ✎ ร่าง
dibbacakkhuṁ visodhayiṁ;
I purified my clairvoyance.
รตฺติยา ปจฺฉิเม ยาเม✎ ร่าง
Rattiyā pacchime yāme,
In the last watch of the night,
ตโมกฺขนฺธํ ปทาลยึ✎ ร่าง
tamokhandhaṁ padālayiṁ.
I shattered the mass of darkness.
ปีติสุเขน จ กายํ✎ ร่าง
Pītisukhena ca kāyaṁ,
I then meditated pervading my body
ผริตฺวา วิหรึ ตทา✎ ร่าง
Pharitvā vihariṁ tadā;
with rapture and bliss.
สตฺตมิยา ปาเท ปสาเรสึ✎ ร่าง
Sattamiyā pāde pasāresiṁ,
On the seventh day I stretched out my feet,
ตโมกฺขนฺธํ ปทาลิย ฯ✎ ร่าง
Tamokhandhaṁ padāliyā”ti.
having shattered the mass of darkness.
วิชยา ฯ✎ ร่าง
